Andelen Guesthouse

My partner and I stayed at Andelen for our elopement trip to Ærøskøbing, and it made our time on the island truly magical. Everything about the room and accommodation was excellent. The bed was very comfortable, the room was impeccably clean, and the entire house has a warm and thoughtfully curated design. It feels less like a hotel and more like staying in the beautiful home of a welcoming and attentive host. The property has clearly been renovated and decorated with great care and character, and its history as a former cooperative granary and cultural center adds to its charm. We especially appreciated the thoughtful amenities, including the coffee and tea setup and the constant availability of fresh cold drinking water. Communication with Adam was also excellent; he was always responsive and friendly. A highlight of our stay was visiting Denmark’s smallest public cinema located downstairs. Bicycle rentals are also available directly at the property, and there’s a lovely swimming spot just around the corner. Our wedding trip to the island was unforgettable, and Andelen played a big part in that. We would gladly come back again. Thank you, Adam, for such a wonderful stay!

Adam (the owner) is wonderful. He provides coffee, tea, candies. The facility has a refrigerator (which we needed) and Adam offered to freeze our ice packs. He was extremely helpful in directing us to great places to see on side hikes when we took the free island bus. We did not rent bikes due to the wind but suspect that he would have been equally helpful in designing an interesting route for us. The honor bar has some very nice wines for a reasonable price (a bottle of good, red wine for less than we paid for a glass of wine at a restaurant). The old grainery has been nicely remodeled. The 2 shared bathrooms are very nice and were immaculately clean. The backyard patio is beautiful.

Be prepared to climb 17 very narrow steps to the living area. We were they before the busy season but suspect the two shared bathrooms for the 4 rooms that use them could cause some issues if other guests were not conscientious. Our room was cramped, but the character of the room and guesthouse more than made up for small size.

Our stay at the Andelen Guesthouse was every bit as wonderful as we had hoped. We loved the location and its historical "story," that it was a unique, one-of-a-kind place to come home to after a day exploring Æro. The back terrace and garden was lovely and quiet. Our host, Adam, was a friendly and likeable gent, very attentive to our needs. We reserved the two-story family suite, which had its own private bathroom.

Fantastic old granary, beautifully renovated to become a very comfortable and characterful guest house. Very clean, warm and comfortable.They don’t do food and normally have an arrangement with a nearby coffeehouse for breakfast. However, as it was off season when I stayed( mid April) the coffeehouse was closed. This wasn’t a problem as there was an excellent alternative one. Also they warn you about noise from the cinema, but although I could hear it, it was quiet and finished about 9pm. Very friendly and helpful owner. Aeroskobing is a very peaceful, charming place too.
