Kiki Shiretoko Natural Resort

Really nothing to dislike.

The Kiki Shiretoko Resort was, hands down, the most awesome hotel of the 6 I stayed at during my 2 weeks in Japan, late May-early June, 2026. The entire atmosphere is all about nature and relaxation (from the artwork to the decor to the color scheme of all the public areas), and ALL about the beauty of Eastern Hokkaido. The dinner and breakfast buffet was absolute heaven - delicious, beautifully prepared, SO much variety (and INCLUDED) with an entire dining room staff that shouts out greetings to every single guest as they enter. My room had an angled view of the sea, so I could sit on my couch and watch the sunset every night. Spacious, clean, simple room with comfy bed; helpful & respectful staff; and laundry facilities that were a life saver by that point in my trip! Most hotels are so bland and corporate in their greys and beiges that you just stay in your room because why bother? THIS hotel was so restful & beautiful, w seating areas of every vibe and configuration throughout the main floor (and a lovely giftshop that's actually relevant to the area), that I actually wanted to enjoy those spaces. The hill to get up to the resort is so steep it's pretty much unwalkable but just make your way to the bus station in town and have them call up to the hotel, which will send down a van to pick you up. The bus from Memanbetsu airport from the Abashiri Bus Co. Ltd. is great and easy to catch at the MMB airport (it's timed specifically for the 2 inbound and outbound flights, so no need to worry, like I did, about transportation to and from the resort. The bus is just outside the door at bus stop #4 and people in the airport or at the bus ticket machines will help you. There's a bus schedule you can Google; I think it changes slightly for each half of the year, so just check that. The bus will also pick you up at the hotel for your return trip; when I was there, it was at 09:38.) Worth whatever it takes to get you to this beautiful hotel.

There was not one thing anywhere about the Kiki Shiretoko Resort that I didn't LOVE.

Buffet dinner - Especially the Hokkaido Wagyu roast beef and ebi tempura!! Restaurant ambience was relaxed for a nice chill dinner with the family. Free flow drinks and snacks at lobby lounge and table tennis room too!

This hotel was the perfect finishing touch to our family’s trip to Eastern Hokkaido. The room was beautiful, modern, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was warm, relaxing, and welcoming, while still being lively and enjoyable.
