Morgado - River Suites and Houses by PCH

We spent 4 days and 3 nights at Morgado – River Suites and Houses in Padrões, near Venda Nova, and had an excellent stay. The "chalet" is actually a fully equipped house, featuring a living room, separate kitchen, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. It is ideal for two couples or a family with two children. The swimming pool is excellent, and guests also have access to a private beach on the property. The location is on the quieter eastern side of Parque Nacional da Peneda-Gerês, making it a perfect base for exploring some of the region's most beautiful natural attractions. Several impressive waterfalls and natural pools, including Cascata de Tahiti, Cascata de Pincães, and the 7 Lagoas near Xertelo, are all within a 30-minute drive. For guests staying in one of the five chalets and preparing their own meals, especially those with dietary restrictions or a preference for plant-based food, we recommend bringing a few bags to separate plastic, paper, and glass waste. As the property is located on private land, the municipal waste collection service does not enter the premises. Recycling containers can be found approximately 400 meters away, near the third house on the left (close to Restaurante Baixo Barroso) when driving towards Venda Nova. A special mention goes to Sandra, who looks after the guests. She deserves a perfect 10/10 for her friendliness, availability, and willingness to help with any request. Her exceptional service made our stay even more enjoyable.

My stay at Morgado - River Suites and Houses by PCH exceeded my expectations in every way. Situated right beside the serene waters of Barragem da Venda Nova in Montalegre, the property provides a tranquil countryside retreat surrounded by dramatic mountain vistas and pristine natural scenery. From the moment we arrived, the setting made an immediate impression. The accommodation strikes a wonderful balance between modern comfort and rustic charm. Our suite was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out, complete with a private terrace offering sweeping views across the reservoir and surrounding green hills. Waking up to the morning mist drifting over the water with a fresh cup of coffee was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. The property’s amenities are equally impressive. The outdoor swimming pool area is remarkably clean and well kept, providing a relaxing spot to soak up the sun after a day of exploring. Guests also enjoy access to a private beach area along the reservoir bank, which is perfect for peaceful evening walks or simply watching the sunset over the water. For those looking to stay active, leisure facilities such as table tennis and a tennis court add an extra touch. The hospitality throughout our stay deserves special mention. Check-in was seamless, and the staff were consistently warm, attentive, and eager to share recommendations for local dining and scenic spots. Its location also makes it an ideal base for exploring the nearby Peneda-Gerês National Park and regional thermal spas. Overall, Morgado - River Suites and Houses delivers exceptional value, outstanding tranquility, and genuine comfort. Whether you are seeking a quiet weekend escape or a nature-filled holiday in Northern Portugal, this property is a true hidden gem that I cannot recommend highly enough.

Principalmente la ubicación y la tranquilidad. A mis hijos principalmente la piscina. También la relación calidad-precio.

Personalmente y dado que soy alérgica, había algo de humedad. Las instalaciones estaban algo “dejadas” sobre todo para que disfrutaran de todo bien los niños.

O local é lindíssimo. Estávamos constantemente de boca aberta com a beleza natural. Os quartos apesar das instalações serem antigas servem perfeitamente para o proposto e as camas são muito confortáveis. A piscina também foi bastante agradável. A limpeza em geral pareceu-nos bem.

Reservámos a contar com o pequeno-almoço anunciado, mas à chegada foi-nos dito que esse serviço não estaria disponível durante a nossa estadia. Ainda que tenhamos conseguido arranjar uma solução, se ficássemos mais dias seria desagradável. Isto porque não estão disponíveis equipamentos como torradeiras para os clientes e o frigorífico fornecido é demasiado pequeno face à capacidade do alojamento. Para além disso, a localização, apesar de ser lindíssima, fica bastante afastada de supermercados e minimercados, o que dificulta as refeições em geral. Durante a nossa estadia, assistimos também a dificuldades na gestão de serviços prestados a outros hóspedes, o que aumentou a sensação de alguma desorganização.
