    Cozy hotel in a nice location. Expectations from the castle atmosphere were higher, but that is not the issue with the hotel.

    Nothings perfect- but this stay came close. Special thanks to amazing receptionist Elena for arranging my rooms. The hotel has several (interiors modernized) small ancient buildings. Some rooms with view or terrace. I stayed 2 nights, in 2 different rooms and buildings, but feel 1 night is enough so you get sunset and sunrise in a spectacular setting. Find the nearest high point or Cliff for photos! Rooms are all very well done, comfy beds and bathrooms, furnishings that match the old furniture with old walled buildings. Free breakfast is a generous delish buffet is (croissants, cold cuts, cheeee,fruit, etc) in another building 5 to 8 minutes walk away, with an outdoor patio and superb view (but blasted by sun). I’d definitely stay again! Note1- Wonderful to hike to massive ruined old fortress and Agia Sofia ( warning- closed several days of week) at upper town , enjoy Byzantine feel of teeny island town, visit Christ in chains Church, do history tour of bloodthirsty past. But can be done in 24 hrs. Otherwise, Monemvasia is all hotel, shops and restaurants, not really a living town like Mystras.
