Welbeck Hotel - Close to Beach, Train Station & Southend Airport

The shower, view from the attic room 20 , the gentleman who checked us in on Friday the 3rd . He was helpful and attentive . The beach was lovely and beautiful area

We paid 140 for 2 nights for a double . We visited purely because its closer to the beach . The gentleman who checked us in on Friday the 3rd was really helpful and attentive . The was okay and nothing special . I like the shower pressure and a little peak view from the attic to the ocean . I felt unsafe on the first day from the locals drinking outside of a next door bar when they harassed me and my partner . Totally not a nice welcome but nothing to do with the hotel . I would say if you go there as a single female please do not walk around alone behind the area at night . It can be a little scary. Go with friends or your partner . The mattress wasnt good at all , needs to replace and get a new one . Overall the hotel feels tired and needs refurbish badly . It has the potential as its closer to the beach . The price we paid was equal to what we received and it was fine . Do not expect luxury . Overall the place itself was decent to its capacity and quality afford . The staff are nice and helpful and the gentleman there I believe he's Indian was really good to us and bringing up anything we request and try his best to make us feel welcome and comfortable. So a big thank you for your effort and for looking after us . There's no elevator access but we were okay with it . They supply us with complementary water on arrival and a fan to keep us cool . Thank you for looking after us .

Excellent staff and hotel very clean

Friendly gentleman with glasses at the reception gave us a complimentary upgrade to a larger room with a balcony. Had a nice view of the seafront

There was no toilet roll in the bathroom, but there was bleach which is a bonus to clean with

The location was good. It was near the beach, train station and the theatre. The size of the room was good and the bathroom was a nice layout, even though it was quite small. I think it worth if you not spending a lot of time in the room and just want somewhere to sleep for the night. The staff were really nice and helpful. I had a beautiful sleep for 2 night as I didn’t hear any noises or had any awful smell.

It does need a little bit of refurbished. I didn’t like how flat the pillows were but if you stacked them all up it was okay.
