Overall, it is a very beautiful house in a really beautiful location and we enjoyed our week's stay very much despite the many shortcomings. However, to make this rating any good, it is impossible to end in this case with one sentence. The rating should alert future guests to the pros and cons of this accommodation, so they know what they are getting into, and at the same time it should be useful feedback and advice to the owners on what to improve if they want to continue to rent their beautiful house through booking.com and want their guests to come back again.

My family and I prefer booking.com for renting our accommodation because it provides hotel standards of accommodation, which we have not seen with AirBnB several times. Therefore, in this case we expected the standard that is usually offered on booking.com and this rating is written with that assumption. Immediately after our arrival we had a few surprises that did not match the expected standard, but which we eventually came to terms with during our week's stay. 1. The most noticeable shortcoming is the peculiar smell of the house, which can certainly be removed by deep cleaning of the floors, kitchen and furniture in the house. It is not anything toxic, but a kind of old musty smell, which I once smelled on my friend's elderly parents who had an old dog at home. My wife is very sensitive to these authentic smells, indicative of "habitation", and so at the first moment we did not know whether we would not go to return the property keys to Interhome, the agency that takes care of the house, and whether we would find a hotel in the area instead. However, as we arrived from the airport late at night, and it was too late to return the keys and look for other accommodation, we had no choice but to decide in the morning. 2. After a long journey we were unpleasantly surprised by the fact that there was no toilet paper in anyone of the toilets in the house. I have to say that this has never happened to us anywhere in the world through booking.com, because it is not a service of sharing holiday apartments, but a full service of hotel standard. As a guest, I was thinking about how the owner himself handles these situations, when he suddenly touches the empty space in the toilet paper holder and is miles away in the middle of the night and there is nowhere to go shopping. 3. Fortunately, at least the beds were made and the towels were ready.
