The friendliest stop over in Belgium?

We were made so welcome by Jaco when we arrived after a long drive from Karlsruhe. He gave us loads of advice about Gent, was helpful in making sure we had everything we needed and was on hand to pour a beer in the evening! The Cycling history from Norbert is fascinating and we had a great conversation over a superb breakfast with him, his friend and other guests.

Great stay!

Staff were friendly and really helpful! Breakfast was also excellent. Appreciated the helpful booklet provided within the room, as it listed various transport options to get into Gent centre. (We used the nearby Park and Ride - super convenient, and I probably wouldn't have been aware of it without this booklet.)

Not many decent options for food (within walking distance and open on a weekday evening). No issues though, and would recommend for a short stay. :)

Absolutely would stay again, with my bike, if I am back in the area

The breakfast was exceptional. The staff was very attentive, and engaged/ English abilities were exceptional. outdoor seating area was an excellent place to take a break.

Its a tiny thing - but the shower in my room was broken. It worked to clean - but the shower head coult not be raised, and was roughly at my waist....

Comfortable stay

Hotel is really nice. You can reach Gent centre easily by tram. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast is delicious. Parking for free outside.

Great value, nice hotel, pleasant happy staff

Pleasant suprise exceeded our expectations. The only downside.was that we arrived a little late and the nearest eateries seem to stop serving at 8PM, although we found a cheerful kebab/pizza place near the Tram terminal about 2Km up the road. Breakfast was great. It was a bit out of town but had a P+R at the terminal Would definitely stay again, if in the area.

Local eateries stop serving at 8pm and the Lidl closes early-ish

Beautiful old building with a fabulous stylish boutique feel, lovely staff, amazing breakfast with delicious made to order omelettes. Large comfortable spacious room, tea & coffee making facilities, ample parking and a short walk to tram stop to go into the city.

Cosy countryside hotel for visitors of (not only) Ghent

The hotel has a nice, family-like, countryside feel. The location is great for an access by car (just a couple of hundreds of meters from a highway), the public transport to the center is not too far either (tram stop about 10 minutes of walk). A supermarket near was also a big plus. The inside of the hotel looks a little bit like a labyrinth first, but it turns out not to be a big problem. The room was OK, as was the bathroom. The breakfasts were really good, a great choice of chees, breads, hams etc. We enjoyed the light space for breakfasts, as well as the cosy bar for coffee or the seating outside (e.g. for a glass of wine or beer).

We found the pillows rather uncomfortable. Also, it took the water quite some time to turn warm (and then another time to turn cold again), perhaps due to the length of the building/pipings (?). In the very hot summer we would deffinitely use some air conditioning (at least for the future this seems to be a must). The rest was rather a bad luck: Rules for not leaving animals unattended need to be enforced more strictly (the poor dog kept barking in the room next to us for hours); after the fire alarm turning on due to some steam going out of the bathroom in a room on our floor, instructions (or at least signs) need to be added (it's common in other countries), I guess.

Very classy big old House remodeled to be in tip-top shape, very nice and spacious room wiith a BIG comfy bed, great breakfast included in price, easy to park at the property, AND VERY FRIENDLY AND NICE OWNERS.

It is not near the historical center, so you need a car or to use public transportation (there is a TRAM very near).

Superb hotel, high level of comfort, breakfast was so delicius. Location is very good, big advance is private parking if You arrive with car. We would stay longer if we could, but maybe next time if come again in Ghent.

Nice staff, good breakfast, clean room. It's a little bit far from the city center, if you are planing to use public transport be ready to walk 10–15 minutes to the nearest tram stop. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel, but buses are rarely run.

Great stay at Lepelbed

We had a great weekend stay at Hotel Lepelbed. If you are looking for a quiet place just outside the hustle and bustle of the city, this is a great choice (private parking for free is a plus!) The city center is also easily reacheable by public transportation. Good breakfast and nice personnel. All in all, excellent place to stay for a city break.
