About this cabin rental

Chessetts Lodge is a stunning custom-built house, with touches of luxury everywhere. Chessetts Lodge combines the rustic with the luxurious resulting in a truly remarkable home for your private mountain vacation.

You will be amazed from the second you drive up to this gorgeous villa. It is approached via a private road and is situated on its own grounds of some 14 acres, atop Pennsylvania Peak, just South of Alma and only 20 miles from Breckenridge. Surrounded by pine and aspen forests, there are spectacular views of the surrounding white-capped 14,000 ft. peaks, valleys, rivers, and lakes.

Stepping into the home you can see the care taken to create an atmosphere of relaxation and luxury. On the first level you walk into the game room with its custom full-size bar with ice maker, wine cooler, sink, and granite counter. Gather around on the bar stools and converse with the mixer of drinks or enjoy conversations going on in the room. You can play pool on the full-size pool table or sit around the large custom L-shaped couch with a big round coffee table to play games or place your drinks and snacks on. There is a flat screen television mounted over the gas fireplace for sports or movie night. This level has a custom indoor sauna to enjoy, along with a walk-in shower and thick custom cotton towels to finish the experience. There is a bedroom with two twin beds that have new Marriott Hotel pillows to rest your head on.

Following the custom wood stairs up to the main level you enter the heart of the home. There is a luxurious kitchen with granite countertops and custom cabinetry. All the appliances are of the highest quality and are stainless steel. You will have all of the amenities and cookware that you will need to prepare your meals. The kitchen has an island with bar stool seating so that you and your friends can cook and chat at the same time!

The great room has vaulted two story ceilings with floor to ceiling windows on all sides. It is fabulous and has stunning views of the mountains, the valley, and the surrounding forest. A large dining area that can seat ten people is here, with a fantastic view! There is a gas stove to keep the room extra cozy. The seating is leather and extremely comfortable with yet another coffee table for games and puzzles. There is also a small library with books and games for everyone. This open concept means everyone can enjoy some time together, while still having other spaces to have different activities going on in the home.

On the main level are two of the four bedrooms, one featuring a queen size bed with luxurious linens and king size Marriott pillows that cradle your tired body. The other room has a king bed with luxurious linens and pillows to relax and have a great night sleep. There are televisions in each of the rooms, with satellite programming. The bathroom has thick cotton towels for you to use with your shower or bath. There is a bathtub/shower combination on this level.

The third floor area has the master bedroom where the oversized king bed with luxurious bedding and Marriott pillows welcome you to a haven of your own. Here you have your own seating area with a small deck to enjoy the view. The attached private master bath has a custom tiled walk in shower, as well as a VibrAcoustic tub. The thick custom cotton towels give you an upscale luxury feel in the middle of the mountains. There is also a flat screen television with satellite programming to enjoy.

Adjoining the master suite there is also a large loft area with a minstrel's gallery looking onto the great room. This area has a queen size sleeper sofa providing additional accommodation if required. The reading area is also located in the loft so that you can see the stunning views from the big comfy fainting couch that is provided.
The outdoors is one of the most spectacular qualities of this home. You can hike to the top of Pennsylvania Peak right from the front door of the Lodge. There is a hot tub at Chessetts to relax in after a day of hiking or skiing. It is positioned to make the best of the amazing views! If you can think of an outdoor activity, you will probably find it within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. It is a great place to call your "Base Camp".

This is a beautiful home to spend any season of the year. The access is year-round, because the driveways and roads are plowed, but AWD/4WD vehicles are essential, especially in winter. There can be deep drifts after a storm and it can become quite slippery if the snow melts and refreezes. Please have the proper equipment during the winter months.

If you're looking for the perfect Colorado getaway, Chessetts Lodge is truly a hidden gem. Perched atop an 11,000 foot mountain, the views are absolutely breathtaking. Every sunrise and sunset feels like something out of a postcard. The hot tub quickly became our favorite spot for watching the sunset, and the sauna was the perfect way to relax after spending a little too much time soaking. The pool table was a huge hit with both of our families and gave everyone something fun to do after a day of exploring. One of my favorite memories was grilling on the patio while taking in the incredible mountain views. Early mornings with a cup of coffee were so peaceful as we watched hummingbirds dart around and the sweetest little chipmunks play nearby. It truly doesn't get much better than that. The house accommodated our two families perfectly, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out, relax, and enjoy time together. If you stay here, don't leave without attempting the 1,000 piece Breckenridge puzzle. If you finish it, you definitely deserve bragging rights! The location couldn't have been better. The charming little town of Alma is just minutes away, and if you have the chance, stop by the local bakery for one of their fresh cinnamon rolls. They're a 10/10 and absolutely worth it. We packed our trip with adventures, including Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, the Royal Gorge Railroad, whitewater rafting in Cañon City with River Runners, and a visit to the Denver Zoo. We spent quite a bit of time in the car traveling between destinations, but not one of us complained because every mile offered another breathtaking Colorado view. This was our second year staying at Chessetts Lodge, and once again it exceeded every expectation. We've made priceless memories here with family, and it has truly become one of our favorite places to go. We can't wait to return and make even more memories in the years ahead. Thank you for sharing such an incredible place with us. We highly recommend Chessetts Lodge to anyone looking for a peaceful mountain retreat with unforgettable views, wonderful amenities, and everything you need for an amazing Colorado vacation.

Just an incredible getaway. If a quiet stay to "get away from it all" (if you choose), this is the place. It's remote, but really just 15-20 minutes away from Fairplay, which is convenient for food, gas, etc.The views are spectacular, and the days are cool (even in the middle of summer). It's a perfect spot for hiking and reconnecting with friends and family. The property is tranquil and picturesque. There is plenty of room to spread out with bedrooms spread out across three levels and lots of places to gather (the great room, the elevated porch, and the lower bar area to name a few).A few things to keep in mind: you are at 11,000'; you will get winded when you exert yourself. The summer months can be long and dry...drink lots of water. This is moose, bear, bobcat, and deer country. Among other things, you have to mindful to not leave trash outside (bagged, binned or otherwise). My family and I highly recommend this property, and the property managers are extremely attentive.

Home was beautiful! We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed our time there. The only issue we had was the cleanliness of the home. For the price we paid I expected cleanliness to be a priority. There were issue with dirty bed sheets, scum in master showers and cob webs/dust throughout the house. I did speak with management to address the issue and will see what happens. I would recommend home but be sure to check and mention issues upon arrival.
