It’s location was close to the castle

When we first arrived the manager/caretaker was very officious and really put a damper on our stay. She however was very nice the following day as we were leaving. Perhaps she had a bad day

Nothing.

The room was very clean and comfortable, the host was extremely kind and helpful, giving lots of help and recommendations and helping us with taxis and planning how to get to certain places and even allowing us to keep luggage there after checkout while we were visiting certain places and so much more. With a very caring and dedicated host, and the location being very close to the retail park (~2/3 minute walk), a 10 minute walk to the beach as well as a short taxi away from the castle and cliffs (I recommend asking the host to learn about the local taxi service it is very cheap/affordable, much more so than an Uber), it is the perfect spot to stay. It's very clean especially the en suite bathrooms, I extremely highly recommend.

It was clean and convenient location to the train station.

We were in room L7 in the basement. It was hot in the room and difficult to sleep due to a bright security light outside the window. The stairs were narrow so it was hard to get our suitcase down them. We also had to have the window open and thus listen to all the street noise.
