We lovingly call our house Sounds Groovy OBX! For over 30 years, this was the home to the coolest, most loving grandparents ever! They were wonderful free spirits! Sounds Groovy is a tribute to them and an acknowledgement of all the beauty and kindness they shared while they were with us. They enjoyed fishing, the beach, and love and laughter. We are confident you'll experience that and much more when you visit Sounds Groovy!
Our home was beautifully renovated in 2018. Which included a brand new kitchen, new floors throughout, new showers, and new deck. Our philosophy is that if there's something we would need when staying there, our guests will need it too. You will find a kitchen completely stocked for cooking, baking, and grilling (with appliances, such as a split double oven convection range, a microwave, a crockpot, griddle, hand mixer, popcorn maker, rice maker, Keurig, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, etc.). Plus, access a variety of games, a sewing kit, a first aid kit, iron and ironing board, luggage racks, a chair in each bedroom, and many other amenities. After a long day enjoying all that the Outer Banks offers, you can sit back relax and watch shows on the 75" Smart TV. The home offers WiFi and the television is equipped with an Amazon Fire TV Stick, there is no cable television.
The house sits on the main canal off the Albemarle Sound with a dock for fishing or boat tie-up. If you are a fishing fan (like us!), check out the fish table/cleaning station! Boat dock has electricity, water, and lighting. We provide fishing rods and a simple tackle box. The house also offers an enclosed outdoor shower, which in our opinion is the best part of any beach house. We also have an outdoor entertainment area underneath the house, excellent for Crab Feasts and other group activities. One of the main highlights is the view! Take in the scenery either from the decks and from many of the expansive windows inside.
During your stay you will have complete and uninterrupted access to all areas of entire home (excluding owner's closet) including Access to the storage room (key to the right of the front door) with beach supplies, fishing gear and a second refrigerator and freezer.
WASHER AND DRYER: Available and free for your use.
OUTDOOR SHOWER: The home has a shielded/semi-private outdoor shower with excellent water pressure.
SEWING KIT: Have a mishap? Fix it in a snap!
IRON & IRONING BOARD: Provided.
FISHING RODS: Are available in lower storage, you'll need a NC fishing license.
FISH CLEANING STATION w/ RUNNING WATER: Available on dock.
NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE: Our home is equipped with a NEST smoke and carbon monoxide detector for your safety. It's super sensitive, so it will alert us if it detects smoke in the home.
There is also a community boat ramp, key required. The key fee is $30.00 per week with a $10 refundable key deposit, charged by the Homeowner's Association.
Your enjoyment in our home is our PRIMARY concern. We have family in the community, so if you have any issues during your stay, we will have somebody there to assist you.

We stayed at Sounds Groovy for a quick weekend getaway and I have to say that all of the positive reviews you will read for this listing are spot on. I truly wish we could have stayed longer. The location is great. A very quiet, seemingly safe neighborhood near shopping, beaches and great restaurants. The house presents as pictured in the listing but when you get inside you begin to fully appreciate its uniquely pleasant design. All of the furniture and beds were comfortable for our tastes but I will note that if you simply prefer or have a medical need for a firm bed (e.g back problems ) the beds may present a challenge.Kudos to the owners who took the time to label the kitchen cabinets, climate control devices as well as the doors and locks with many helpful ‘tips.” This value add is something we haven’t experienced in other VRBO homes and it helped take a lot of the guess work out of navigating an unfamiliar home. All communications with the owners were pleasant and responsive. We would definitely consider Sounds Groovy for future OBX trips.

This is a difficult review to write. We've stayed in dozens of Vrbo's and have never left a three star review. Overall, this is a wonderful rental. Convenient location, safe neighborhood and watching the boats on the canal was nice. Pictures are accurate, very clean, comfortable indoor and outdoor furniture, massive TV and the kitchen is great. However, as advertised, we rented a property with a king size bed. That is our #1 priority filter on Vrbo. The king bed was broken and the owners knew about it for weeks. Needless to say, the first night was uncomfortable (the frame is bent making the head lower on one side). They never mentioned it until we did. From the owners perspective, they want to repair and keep the bed. We get it! From our perspective, we wanted a king size bed and didn't get it!! Even after acknowledging the problem there was no apology or resolution. Sleeping in separate bedrooms for 13 nights was not what we expected!
