    My stay at Le Royal Hotel Amman highlighted several systemic issues that are inconsistent with five-star expectations. Security throughout the property is extremely heightened, with heavy guarding and multiple screening layers. While regional context explains the precautions, the execution contributes to a feeling of friction rather than reassurance and sets a guarded tone from arrival. The hotel itself is visually appealing but noticeably dated. While not in disrepair, the aging infrastructure and finishes are evident and impact the overall guest experience. There were no welcome amenities, and the hotel repeatedly failed to understand or respond effectively to multiple accommodation requests, despite follow-up. I had also noted in advance that I was traveling to celebrate my birthday, yet there were no acknowledgments or personalized touches of any kind. Food quality across the property was subpar, and the local wine offerings were poor. One clear exception was Chester’s Restaurant, where the service was excellent. The staff there were professional, attentive, and well trained, standing in contrast to service inconsistencies elsewhere in the hotel. The guest room experience was particularly disappointing. There was no refrigerator or minibar. While room service delivery was reliable and efficient, bed quality was poor. The mattress was uncomfortable, the sheets and covers felt stiff and low quality, and the pillows were thin and unsupportive. Shower pressure was acceptable, but the water temperature never reached a properly hot level. The lobby area is consistently overcrowded and noisy, which detracts from any sense of exclusivity or calm expected at this level. The environment feels more transactional than refined. With substantial investment in staff training, service consistency, and guest comfort, this property has potential. At present, however, the experience aligns more closely with a 3.5 star hotel at best, and does not justify its five-star positioning.
