The Gates Guesthouse is a cozy 2 bedroom cottage in the heart of Brady, TX. Built in the 1950's & newly renovated, this clean and simple home truly is a "gateway destination" as the Texas Hill Country levels out near Brady and opens up into the plains of West Texas. The home has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a comfortable living space & kitchen equipped with all needed cookware, linens, towels, wireless internet & satellite television. Covered parking, washer & dryer are available as well.

If you are looking for a place in Brady, Texas I would recommend this property, it was clean and accommodating (host has water in fridge waiting when you arrive as well as a basket with toothbrush/toothpaste and other toiletries should you have forgotten yours). There were no signs of cats living under the house as a previous review states. It is true that it is right on the main highway and you can hear the cars passing. That did not bother us, but if you are sensitive to noise definitely look elsewhere (host does have earplugs for sleeping if needed.). Though it states no children, when I inquired the host told me children were fine and seemed surprised the description states "no kids". My only concern was getting the access code. It appears from the check-in email that the code will automatically populate at the 4 pm check-in time, but it does not. I sent an email day of check in at 12:30 pm asking for early check in time of 1:30 pm and did not get a response with the code until 7 pm (well after our 4 pm check in time). Ouch. The host's hasty "sorry for the late response" seemed a bit flippant for a 3 hour delay, but you never know what someone else is having to deal with.

I had to reach out to the property owner at 4:30 (after check in time) to find out how to access the home. The property owner was short and abrupt despite telling her the reason I was staying at her property and needing to acquire the access code. (I was in town for my fathers funeral. So much for small town warmth.) The home is quaint and charming, but very loud with all the noise from Main Street. They do supply ear plugs and a noise machine. There’s a family of cats living under the home that purr all night long to add to the ambience. But, it’s not like you have many airbnb rentals to choose from in Brady.

Overall a great property and just what we needed for our annual trip to Brady and surrounding area. The house was clean and well stocked with the basic amenities. Highly recomend
