Rustic Rockport Cottage

Amazing private oceanfront location. Gorgeous old rustic cottage, like stepping back in time when you enter. I could happily live out the rest of my days in the library alone. If you’re a book lover like I am, you will love this place! Definitely rustic, so if you’re into luxury vacation accommodations, this isn’t for you. But if you’re into old places with beautiful woodwork and old books and an unbeatable location, this is your place.

Not the cleanest. Lots of cobwebs all around inside the cottage. Not very generous on the furniture, although I LOVE the big ole antique arm chair in the library, overlooking the ocean. I sat there and read every night listening to the waves hitting shore. The cottage itself is in decent condition but overall very poorly maintained grounds. Mostly looong overdue for some landscape upkeep and overall maintenance and cleanup. A WHOLE lot of junk lying around. They mow the path from the parking area and the wee bit of lawn but that seems to be about it for grounds maintenance. Also, parking is VERY tight. Full size truck definitely not recommended.

A truly unique rental in a beautiful location - large eclectic library and wood paneling, comfortable seating nooks, small but well supplied and clean kitchen, washer and dryer a big plus, lots a towels etc. WIFI & internet connections fine, walking distance to Front Beach and town (~ 15 min for me ) Loved the rural feel of the yard and pathway from the drive with garden and wild flowers in a relaxed mix. So much enjoyed having breakfast or just reading under the huge white poplar overlooking the bay.

Our only real issue was the narrow entrance to the steep driveway flanked by two granite posts. Having a large rental car didn't help. Minor quibbles - surprised there was no cutting board in the otherwise well supplied kitchen, also that the dresser drawers were mostly full of linens. I prefer the odor of old books to Febreze so shut all the deodorant canisters ASAP.

Quiet and kind of isolated from everything

Location at the water is beautiful.

Access to the house is outrageous, especially at night. Definitely not meant for elderly or others with mobility issues. Parking required super driving skills. House smells like old dead things. It was stuffed up with no windows open. There were several spiderwebs. Get rid of the statues on the loft. They are filthy and scary. The staff was non existent. We never saw or heard from anyone at the property.
