B&B La Casa del Turista

The owners were really friendly and helpful although they couldn't speak English and we couldn't speak Spanish! They helped us retrieve something we had forgotten in the taxi and were really ready to help. The room was clean, and it was quiet.

We did not really like breakfast, but it's a question of taste I guess. It was a bit too far from the airport, which I didn't realise when I booked.

My husband and I were hesitant to stay here at first. The price was too good to be a good to be true. We decided to take a leap of faith with this place. The best of surprise, exceeded our expectations. The location is excellent, it is convenient, in walking distance of laundry, food, shopping, bank, pastries, and public transportation. The staff are always attentive if you need anything. They make your bed everyday without extra cost, maybe a tip 😉. Breakfast is delicious, eggs, bread, coffee and/or tea. This will be our spot to stay in Lima next time we come. Worth every $, definitely recommended.

Peru doesn’t use the same kind of venting system for pipes as we do in the US. 😉 Keep bathroom door closed, and you’ll be fine. It’s on a busy street, however, you can nearly hear any noise from the room.

Hilda and Rosario are the most amazing hosts. We were met at the airport by Rosario. He has no English and we have literally no Spanish but it was as smooth as clockwork. The Hostel is very secure, very clean, with a lovely spacious guest sitting room and kitchen / dining area. Hilda welcomed us on arrival with a huge smile and made us very welcome. As we had not had time to get Peruvian Sol, and we were in an unfamiliar area, Rosario walked us up to the bank and waited then walked us back. All conversation between us was done by phone translators. Wifi is very good in the Hostel. Next day, after a great breakfast, Hilda showed us a map she had drawn of the local bus route. She gave us a bus card, walked us to the stop, got on the bus with us and went as far as the interchange where she showed us how to get the next bus into the heart of downtown Lima. What Service! And we successfully got ourselves around on the local buses for the next 3 days. I liked the area we were staying in because it showed a Lima you won’t see staying in a central city Hotel. We ate dinner locally and thoroughly enjoyed the food and culture of the area. Yes it was a little way out from central Lima but that’s seeing the total package. All this for a really modest price. I really recommend staying here.

The room was clean, a nice fully equipped kitchen is available, next to a spacious living room with large windows and comfy sofa. The hosts and the family are very kind, helpful and hospitable. Lots of shops and restaurants around.
