A lovely hotel, great location

Great location, a very short walk to the old town, on a quiet street. Lovely reception area, can have a drink here. We had a cozy room, and although small there was plenty of room, and well equipped, and a generous bathroom and a very comfortable bed!

Should not be considered a Relais & Chateaux Hotel

The large size of our room and bathroom was nice. We booked the junior suite.

I booked this property because it was listed as a Relais and Chateaux property, and this must be a mistake. While the hotel was lovely and clean, it lacked the luxury we were expecting. We have stayed in maybe a dozen R&C hotels ever, and each time have been so glad we choose to seek them out and sometimes pay more than we otherwise would have. We had just checked out of Hotel Heritage in Bruges and hated leaving because it was so wonderful. Hotel Franq did not measure up in any category. It felt very average, in no way luxurious, the R&C branding (some sign near door or check in, their magazines in lobby or room) was absent. There was no traditional welcome gift in the room (drinks and chocolates were what we’d been receiving in Belgium). The room and bathroom was stark (not in a contemporary way) and felt dated. The bath robes were noticeably discolored and no longer white from so many washings. They felt dingy. The suite had no minibar to purchase from and the hotel bar was manned by the only Hôtel employee - the front desk clerk. She was very kind and welcoming but could only offer beer or wine as she explained she was not a bartender. The hotel restaurant was closed it was a disappointing evening for us as we just wanted to stay at the hotel and not go out. Overall, I actually don’t believe this is a R&C hotel. It’s not listed on their website, which seems odd. If it’s a new addition to the brand, they should reconsider because compared to the rest of their portfolio, it’s a weaker property and we would not ever return or recommend.

Good if you want to be in the city centre, which I did this time, but I’d return to August Hotel

Location is central to attractions, restaurants and bars, yet on a relatively quiet street (note road works in and around the area that could last some time). Front of house staff were all excellent and super friendly.

Breakfast selection was very limited if you don’t eat eggs and therefore not worth the €28. And on the Sunday the continental food selection was even more limited. Also noticed on two mornings a strange vibe amounts the breakfast waiting staff - didn’t seem happy staff.

Amazing comfortable stay in the center

The hotel was as beautiful as in the pictures. The entree was very pretty and smelled great. Our stay was not very long but so comfortable. The room was specious and we loved the bedding. The bathroom was very clean and the offered products amazing. FYI the staff was so kind!

I have nothing bad the say about the hotel we only had a little water overflow situation with the shower. But it was a minor thing when everything else is really amazing.

Fab to stay but there are plenty of places to eat close by so I would recommend eating elsewhere.

Spotlessly clean. Beautiful building and furnishings. Toiletries in the bathroom were lovely.

Dinner in their Italian restaurant was not good value for money. The portion sizes were more like children’s portions. Pasta as a main course was served in a bowl the size of a cereal bowl. Breakfast was ok but attracting the attention of staff for more coffee was a real issue. It would be better if each table had its own port of tea and coffee rather than getting one cup.

Comfortable and unique stay

Nice atmosphere across the hotel, beautiful design and excellent breakfast. Rooms were comfortable. Especially appreciate the good shower. The personal "tour" through the hotel with historic explanation was a nice touch.

Rooms are a bit small, but not a real issue. Check-in and check-out could be faster.

Great location

Returning guests and the hotel is in a great location with easy access to the main city; approx min walk. We had a cosy room as we booked late and the only room available and it was adequate for 1 night at 17m2. Staff always pleasant and excellent customer service. Breakfast is ok with a choice of eggs cooked to your order. Limited cold food with a few meat & cheese selections.

Our Nespresso coffee machine did not function properly and we had to get coffee from the restaurant to bring to our room at no extra charge. All other facilities in the room worked well.

Fantastic hotel, everything was perfect. Staff very service minded. Lovely room, comfortable bed and excellent breakfast.

The roadworks outside although this was outside control of hotel. One small point, the bathroom could use some extra cleaning of the grout in the shower. This area showed sign of wear.

The rooms are not very spacious and we can hear the noise from neighboring rooms. The prices for breakfast are expensive regarding what is proposed. No baby chair for the restaurant/breakfast.

Nice hôtel with good Michelin star restaurant

We had a room with no view, Not even worth a 3 star hotel. As if we were in the cellar. we asked to change without succes, and we did not receive any reduction. At the same rate (315€) chose De Witte Lelie or any other hôtel. Staff was totally unprofessional and useless. It’s such a pitty for such a beautiful place.
