I’m Bahareh (a female traveller), and I stayed in the female dormitory. The hostel is in a great location in Shirakawa-go village, and the people there are so kind and helpful. Kayoko and Kobayashi were especially kind to me. Kobayashi shared so much about the stars, Japanese culture, and everyday life and customs in Japan. He patiently answered all my questions and speaks English well, which made our conversations easy and enjoyable. Spending time with them was a real highlight of my stay.
The only drawback for me was the lack of lockers in the dormitory and the limited space to open my suitcase comfortably. For a one-night stay, this may not be a big issue, especially if you don’t need to unpack much, but it could be inconvenient for a longer stay.

We were received by very friendly staff. Since we arrived very early we were able to leave our bags before we could check-in. The rooms was very nice and cozy. If you want a typical Japanese experience, this is perfect!

Traditionelles Gästehaus für echten Japanflair. Das Abendessen war ein einfaches Gericht, hat aber geschmeckt.
Eine Anfrage zur Tischreservierung wurde nicht beantwortet. Das Personal vor Ort war höflich aber gleichgültig und nicht besonders freundlich. Am Morgen war bei unserer Abreise niemand vor Ort. Alles wirkte düster und etwas ungepflegt. Wir waren die einzigen Gäste beim Abendessen. Ein schwarzer Käfer krabbelte abends über das Bett.
