It’s not a hotel in the traditional sense, but rather a senior living residence where some apartments are rented out as guest accommodation. The rooms are spacious, with a separate bedroom and a combined sitting/dining/kitchen area divided by a door. The surroundings are very quiet, with little more than birdsong outside. Inside, however, noise carries easily because of the hardwood floors and the lack of sound insulation between the bedroom and living area. Facilities are fairly basic. The kitchen comes with a single pan (no pots), a kettle, a filter coffee machine, a microwave, a two-ring cooker, and a fridge. The bed is quite narrow for two people at 160 cm wide, so larger guests may find it uncomfortable. The shower area is dark and functional rather than inviting, although the water pressure and hot water are excellent. Eating on-site is difficult. There is a restaurant, but it is primarily intended for the residents. On Sunday, we were very hungry and, after quite a bit of persuasion, they eventually prepared us a reasonably good salad at €15 each. Breakfast is available, but it is very basic: bread, jam, and cereals. Don’t expect eggs, bacon, or sausages. Parking is available outside within the residence’s walled grounds under the trees, while the underground parking is reserved for residents. The staff are reasonably helpful, though not especially enthusiastic. It’s about a 30-minute walk to the Duke’s Palace. For the price, the value is excellent. In terms of comfort, less so. Ultimately, you get what you pay for.

De inrichting van het appartement was sober, vooral het servies. Hebben extra gevraagd maar het zeker vriendelijke en behulpzame personeel sprak alleen Frans.
