The Hill Town Cottage

This is a super cosy stay in Nuwara Eliya, and we loved our two nights here. Firstly the location is great, being a 10 minute walk away from the town (old post office etc). The rooms were comfortable, and we were given extra blankets for the cold, the bathroom was clean, and spacious. The breakfast both days were excellent, first was the English style breakfast with eggs and toast, and our second day was Sri Lankan style - I recommend the Sri Lankan breakfast so make sure you ask for it. Our hosts were superb, very kind with lots of offers of tea. We are taking the train to Ella and they helped us confirm the confusing train times, and booked us a tuk tuk to the station (the driver stopped to let us take scenic photos). I highly recommend Hill Town cottage when you come to Nuwara Eliya!

The hotel is located up on the hill in a quiet neighborhood away from the noise of the city. I didn’t feel like I was staying at a hotel but at somebody’s beautiful home. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were pleasant and nice.

Everything was good and pleasant during my stay.

Very nice house, a big breakfast, comfortable beds, and a good location.

The bathroom definitely needs a refresh. The man who works there was very persistent in offering transportation and organizing everything. The same conversation came up every time we met. I know he was trying to be helpful, but over time it became tiring.

The room is freezing and there are no heating options at all, no air conditioning or similar, in short, it is very, very cold.
