Beautiful hotel and great value for money

The hotel was lovely, the room we stayed in was fantastic and the food was excellent. We used the spa and had a couple of lovely massages. The pool was very big and constantly monitored by a lifeguard.

Overall good stay, however the hotel could improve their cleaning

Check-in was smooth, we arrived at 7am and were able to check in early for a small fee. The room was spacious and had a brilliant beach view. The mini-bar was well stocked, breakfast was a buffet with a lot of variety. The staff were lovely.

The room definitely could have been cleaned better. There were a few stains / marks on the walls and the shower had a few bits of hair/ soap on the walls on arrival. The tables by the pool also needed a wipe down.

Frustrating for what is meant to be a luxurious stay

The hotel is in a good location, especially if your room sees the stunning view facing Gavea rock along with Sao Conrado beach. The only downside is that you will bear a little bit more cost of daily Taxi/Uber to all the main city attractions compared with a more centrally located hotel. The metro station isn't far indeed, but it is very close to a rough area (Rocinha Favella). A police car stays in front of the hotel main entrance at all times, which adds to the feel of safety during the stay/pickup and drop off times.

Despite the high cost of stay in a junior suite, the AC sound is really loud and the sliding toilet door was broken. I reported the faulty door three times but we were simply ignored. When we arrived, we had one little bottle of shampoo and one conditioner for both of us. We were only provided more with some body lotion when we called the room service. No shower slippers or shower gel available, only soap bars. No shower robes are provided to rooms without a bath tub which is really pathetic. At the end of breakfast buffet, I reported to a member of staff that the big dispensing ice water container seems to gave sediments and I showed them 6 water glasses having white stuff in them (empty glasses appeared visually clean). He apologised, removed the container and no replacement was offered which made me very sceptical about the level of cleanliness in the kitchen or the source of the water offered in the breakfast buffet. We didn't like the breakfast and dinner in the hotel overall, in terms of taste and variability/options. Staff on the customised Tapioca/Eggs section can be more friendly. However, MASI was really a very good experience. We had dinner there twice and I would highly recommend. After breakfast, there are designated members of staff meant to be taking a quick verbal survey from customers on daily basis about their stay and if there are concerns. Everything I reported to them, including the faulty suite toilet door, were not actioned. Therefore, it is a clearly useless show/exercise and a complete waste of the guests time. It is sad as I believe that this hotel, with its design and location, is a great asset and has a much better potential.

Fantastic hotel in Rio - highly recommend!

The hotel is very impressive - as soon as you arrive you feel like you are in a high-end hotel. Car parking valet service was great - you just arrive, drop the car off, paid there and then and go to the hotel, very easy. You can get your car anytime of the day or night. Our room was very modern, clean and spacious and the VIEWS were AMAZING!!!!!!! Breakfast has plenty of choice and the area is large and spacious, no complaints. The location is a little further from the city centre but suited us. Uber's are cheap so isn't a problem. The beach is literally 2mins walk across the road and it's a fantastic beach which is just as good as Copacabana or Ipanema but just more quiet and chilled out and WAY less people!! The pool area was a highlight - fantastic large pool (including shallow pool for kids) and it was never really that busy so never an issue getting a table or chair. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel

There is not many 'things to do' or restaurants or shops in the area (apart from the small shopping mall nearby) and the area around the hotel is quiet but his may suit some people.

Beautiful hotel with stunning views of the mountain and ocean

The hotel room impressed us with its ample space and tasteful decor. We found the facilities to be in excellent condition, reflecting good maintenance. The reception staff stood out for their helpfulness and consistent smiles. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and beach access, both of which were fantastic. Its location near the bike path and metro was also convenient, making trips to Ipanema effortless and enjoyable.

Ok experience but wouldn’t stay again

Wuanderson was a WONDERFUL BARTENDER! And Sarah at the front desk was great!

Some of the staff seemed racist and I got dirty looks from regular staff as well as security as if I wasn’t supposed to be staying at a nice hotel. Lots of ants at the bar, the bed was hard and uncomfortable and amenities such as an iron and blow dryer weren’t in my room as advertised

Beautiful, and right by the beach. Not in a crowded area (compared to Ipanema or Copacabana) and yet close enough on a quick Uber ride to them.

Most of the staff didn’t speak English. That is a challenge. Some of the staff at the Reception would not even look at you to help, but would continue to talk to their colleagues or look into their screen instead of helping you. Even if language was a barrier, they could say that they will get someone who can speak English to help.

Overall the hotel was value for money and I enjoyed it but in the future if visiting Rio I would probably go to a hotel

The breakfast was great, I really enjoyed the variety of food that was on offer. Although the location was good in terms of unbelievable views and a beach literally on the door step it was a bit far from copacabana and some of the other tourist attractions. Albeit, very easy to get taxis outside or with Uber. Also a metro 10 minutes walk away. There is no restaurants close by only a super market. The hotel served lunch and dinner but I can’t comment on the quality as I didn’t attend During my trip.

At I asked the staff for some guidance as I was struggling to purchase tickets at the Maracana as a foreigner and was told to “search google” which wasn’t very helpful. Overall staff were polite and nice during breakfast and thought the day.

There are no kettles or coffee pots in the room. We requested hot water and was charged R$10, per pot for HOT WATER !!!! We requested Ice for the room and was charged R$15, per half ice bucket !!!! Completely ridiculous Housekeeping kept forgetting to refresh the soap, shampoo and conditioner in our room....we had to continously request. And she took our drinking glasses The air conditioning didn't work...we had to request for them to fix it...even then, it still didn't work effectively. Their level of service to their guests is disappointing... especially since it is their guests that keep the hotel open and running!!!

The thing that I loved more about the hotel is the staff, they are completely nice, from the security to the bartender, they would spray you with a positive energy all the time. there’s this receptionist named Caio, he helped us a lot with the rooms, he was completely nice and resolved all of our problems. There was a waiter at the restaurant that was extremely nice, the last night we had a chitchat with him, and had an incredible time, sadly we didn’t get his name, but we remembered that he is from Fortaleza, so if you want to give a shout-out to him and Caio, you can try to find him by the city he was born (Fortaleza). In general everything at the hotel is fantastic and there’s so many people more that were incredibly friendly with us, we can’t wait to come back to this hotel.

Amazing architecture and views but poor care of the bedrooms and lack of environmental rules.

The Hotel architecture by Niemeyer is stunning. The views of the beach are simply breathtaking and staff were lovely and helpful. However, I was disappointed by the hotel's lack of environmental policy. There was plastic everywhere, from the glasses to the straws in your drinks. Overall, the bedroom toiletries and care were not up to a five stars level.

ThE hotel should introduce some environmental rules. For example, they could ban single-use plastics, provide reusable water bottles, and encourage guests to recycle. They could also put up signs reminding guests to be mindful of the environment. Overall, I had a positive experience at the Hotel. However, I think management could do more to protect the environment. Here are some specific suggestions for environmental policies that the hotel could introduce: Ban single-use plastics, such as straws, cups, and utensils. Put a sign suggesting towel reuse for more than one day. This can dramatically reduce the impact of the hotel on the environment by saving water and emissions of CO2. Encourage guests to recycle by providing recycling bins throughout the hotel.

one of best options at Rio de Janeiro, cost benefits is above average ! hotel is really beautiful we have stayed there before and all the time experience is wonderful. Location at Sao Conrado is between Barra da Tijuca and Leblon which for me is strategic location to be near by everything...there is subway nearby and Uber and Taxis are also available. for this this hotel has the most beautiful rooms of Rio, i have been in many others in Rio and no one is good as this one...great yo be with Kids too, with Recreation

for me this hotel is a place to spend time on, Pool is Amazingly beautiful, but Drinks are not great, i would suggest instead order a beer or wine to get a better experience: for Hotel crew i would recommend improving the staff who prepare the drinks..it could be a strength as i see this is a problem with several other vacation hotels in Rio.
