An enjoyable stay in a small village just off the main road to Skye

Incredibly equipped and awesome location!

Amazingly equipped, incredible bathroom and shower, location was perfect for exploring surrounding areas and Skye, though wished we had stayed more local and explored more there. Lovely touches throughout. Really great pub next door too which has amazing food!

Home from home in lovely Dornie

The cottage is next door to a pub that serves really nice food and you dont have to walk far from the door to see Elian Donan Castle. The cottage is well equipped and felt like a home from home. Large TV (hubby loved this) and a large very nice bathroom and a decent kitchen. It was clean and the bedrooms were decorated nicely with bright bedding. Plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. Dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer were bonuses.

The only thing I didnt like, being an older lady is that the bathroom is downstairs so if you need to go to the toilet in the night, you have to go down and come back up the stairs. The woodwork needs a lick of paint and the stairwell needs painting too. It appears there is an attic/storage area up another small staircase but there was a bit of chipboard rested over that. I think if you had younger children it might unsettle them.

Good location, good rooms and comfy beds.

Quite a lot! first impression disappointing with rotten railings and a greasy BBQ dominating the porch. patio chairs were dirty and rusty and no table for us to eat outside. We arrived on a hot day. No windows open and beds not aired. Not as clean as it should have been. Damp dirty sugar in the tin and tea bag tin not cleaned. The impression was of a very basic clean from someone with no interest in the property. a cottage which had seen better days. Lots of quirky equipment and over a dozen knives but no carving knife and fork for the joint of venison and NO BOTTLE OPENER

Truly excellent place to stay close to the Eilean Donan castle

This place is truly amazing and we loved our stay here. You're basically right next to the Eilean Donan castle (5min walk) and have several other places to visit near-by. The house is very comfortable and spacious, we wished we could have taken the kitchen and bath home with us :)

Great, comfortable cottage in an ideal location, just 5 minutes walk from Eilean Donan Castle. Nice pub right next door too.

No shop in the village, so its difficult to get groceries if you've not got transport. Some nights, the patrons leaving the pub after closing time can be a bit rowdy and loud.

The bed at the ground level (sofa, in the living room) is too soft and doesn't fit for adults, and even difficult to sleep in for children.

Dwarfed by nature and rested in comfort

The cottage was well equipped, comfortable and spacious. Dornie is a great base for walking in the area and visiting Skye. At the moment the lively pub next door doesn't serve food on a Monday or Tuesday but a Fish supper is available Monday evening from a mobile van. The Kintail Lodge is a good place for food.

Perhaps a pint of milk but other than that everything was great.

Pub very noisy on weekend especially when people are sitting outside. Live music on Saturday went on until well past midnight. Felt like walls were vibrating. And then all revellers left shouting down the street. Not conducive to sleep especially with children. Bathroom was lovely but smelt damp. We also noticed a potential leak under the sink which soaked our personal items. TV had line of missing pixels on the right and although did not affect our overall ability to watch, obviously needs to be fixed. Had to message owner for access details the day before arrival. Usually these are sent on payment in full.

Front door was really difficult to lock. Pub next door was noisy on our first night (but not generally noisy for the rest of the week).

It’s really close to Eilean Donan castle, you can easily walk there. It was comfortable to have two separate bedrooms and a living room as well. We had everything we could’ve ask for.

Relaxing and very comfortable stay in a scenic location.

The spacious kitchen, Arrival prosecco was a nice touch. Lovely bathroom with power shower. Netflix. Hosts were very helpful when we accidentally turned the telly off at the wall ( socket was not where expected)

Didn’t really affect us but outside area and porch could use a lick of paint. For host’s information flat screen telly has a blue line of dead pixels on the right side. Didn’t spoil enjoyment and Probably ok for now but might need future attention. Some road noise but unavoidable given location. Found people wandering into the porch one evening, adamant they had booked the property, turned out to be the one in front: are both of them 12 Frances St.?

Work Trip

I had to travel to the area on a work trip and from confirming my reason for travel during COVID restrictions Bernadette could not have been more helpful or understanding. The house was lovely and warm on arrival with a great heating system. Something of a must in the highlands of Scotland. As we were eating in each evening we made good use of the well equipped kitchen and dining area. Having Netflix was also great and the WiFi worked well.

The only disadvantage that may affect some people is that the only toilet and bathroom is on the ground floor and the bedrooms are on the first floor.
