Location was great. Love the overall vibe of the place. Inside the room and the common area had good charm, so did the surrounding area.

We had to keep the bathroom fan on constantly to make sure there is no smell coming out of the bathroom or drain.

Location

Shower was warm at best. The smell from the bathroom is terrible and, according to other reviews, a known problem. We could feel the springs in the mattress and had to put extra blanket underneath us for sleeping.

Fab town - fab location to stay in - would really recommend it all!

Beautiful town - very scenic walk into it. Breakfasts in the piazza not served until 08:30 so if you need an early start - get food in the shop before you arrive.

clearer directions to the room - we thought we had to walk back to the hotel (1.5km) to get access - if the details of access were messaged to us it would have been easier.

Great place located in the center of Monteriggioni We recon the restaurant across from this would be nice but didn’t have a chance to try

Airconditioning was working poorly and because thick walls it was particularly hot in the room. Also host was not really helpful as we were late for dinner and he didn’t have one suggestions and left us with ‘too bad, have a good night’ , luckily Sergio from Le Torri could point us in the right direction to have late dinner

Hugely disappointing and poor value for money

I liked the lovely view from the window

It was lovely to be within the castle walls - but the accommodation was of disappointingly basic quality and very poor value for money. It promises a lot but definitely does not deliver. Even with a “Genius Discount” it was over €130 for one night. First of all the access is via a very steep, uneven, long and dark stone staircase. Most of the advertising pictures actually show the communal area within the building (not your room) which lacks any facilities. The actual room itself was essentially a small and rather disappointing attic room with a tiny window. The double-bed was 2 uneven singles pushed together. The aircon was loud and totally ineffective. The small shower-room and toilet was very smelly. The aging fridge crammed beside the bed in the tiny room buzzed, coughed, clanked and wheezed loudly all night. (I turned it off eventually) There are no coffee or tea making facilities anywhere - and there is nowhere to get any breakfast if you have an early start. I stayed in rooms in similar ancient historic buildings in Tuscan villages on this trip. This was the worst and by far the most expensive.

Mixed messages on communication to location of where staying, booked it thinking was in castle, messages said otherwise with address being hotel down road, accepted it and ended up walking to hotel down the road to find that we did actually have a room in the castle so had to walk all the way back… apart from the minor communication error I loved it and will definately go back again in future

The listing mentions air conditioning which is incorrect. Technically, there was an AC unit, but it doesn't work. This room shares a living area with 3 units total, we discussed with other people staying and all 3 of the units had the same issue with no AC. We only chose this place trusting there was AC... Unfortunately, the room was 26+ degrees the entire time of our stay and there was no fan. Absolutely miserable conditions to stay in the summer. We stayed here for a wedding and unfortunately this impacted our experience as we were exhausted / fatigued with no relief. Check-in process should be smoother.

The bathroom didn’t smell great (I needed to sleep with the window open to air it out) and the PowerPoints didn’t seem to charge my phone overnight.

Interesting, challenging

Beautiful all tuscany style felt like home. You have to go up old style stairs so be careful and go slowly and grasp the handrail, about 40 steps straight up to get to the room.

Not recommended for the Via Francigena.

On the day we had a phonecall saying this room was not available. Instead we were offered a room in a fancy hotel for tourist coaches, some 1,5 kilometres away by walking on a busy road without hard shoulder. So if you are walking on the Via Francigena and want to stay in Monteriggione, booking this place means being at risk of not getting what you want.

The hotel is not a hotel, more like a B&B without the breakfast. No facilities that you would expect for a hotel, more a room for rent across the road. Room smelt of mould from bathroom- window left open all night because of smell.

the location was amazing ! the gentleman I spoke to on the phone was so kind, they would even have let me bring my cats (which I didn’t in the bed)… for this I am very grateful ! bathroom was new, big king size bad

the room was super small and overpriced… I didn’t mind bit having breakfast included, that was not a problem but I hated that there was no coffee machine, not even by the common areas, especially in winter when everything was shut down for maintenance! I would even have been happy to pay for the capsules, I just wanted and needed coffee first thing in the morning ! unacceptable for a 85 euro rate! the bathroom smelt horrible (drain system not good ), the lady who checked us in complained about everything 🤦‍♀️… you can do so much better, camere dentro il castello, please at least get a nespresso machine in the common area!!!! come on

waiting for 30 min to get the code for the key lock - then go to a random restaurant to show my passport. The worst part was that the Wi-Fi didn’t work and most lamps was out or order - so very dark. The city is cute but a tourist trap

This is a great place..historic with thick walls and heavily beamed ceilings.

There was no breakfast and no cooking facilities..and that was exactly what was promised.

It was perfect; it was historic and inside the castle walls. Just be aware that history comes with steep stairs, narrow doorways, etc. Don't book a historic place and expect a Holiday Inn. But, this place was magnificent and comfortable.

check in was very frustrating . Nobody present at property or designated checkin site (closed restaurant). property manager would not respond to our phone calls or emails. could not access the building or our room. Had to find a local on the street who happened to have private phone # of owner. it was several hours after arrival before we gained access. The steep stairway was very dimly lit and A/C was in- adequate. The downstairs was hot and the loft was stifling the entire night.

great potential but disappointing.

the staff were very accommodating and helpful, could not have been better. The rooms and space are excellent, as is the location.

what disappointed me was the AC did not at all, it was very hot, 98F, the room, on the top floor, was like a sauna all night. Also, as a pilgrim, the fridge is vital, it too, did not work at all. it puzzled me that the hosts went to so much trouble creating a beautiful space and then failed to follow through,

Check-in was really complicated. The host sent me the instruction to pick up the key and the place where I should go it was closed. After an half an hour I waited outside a guy came to brought the key. It was not such a big deal but the host did not even apologies.

1. Fcked up Customer Service The room was plain, small but it is manageable but woman who handed the key has no sense of what customer service is. Running two businesses but couldn't manage at all. Only cared for the money. Attitude is unbelievable.
