Sheila, the landlady, was a breath of fresh air and incredibly friendly. She made me feel welcome and at home straight away. The room was well furnished, and the bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in away from home! The menu was typical pub food and whilst not extensive offered sufficient choice. I chose to have a toastie, chips and salad for my evening meal, which was very tasty and a really good portion size. The pub itself is quirky, which I much prefer to a hotel chain, as it has lots of character and some very friendly locals to chat with. The conservatory was a perfect place to enjoy the evening sun with a glass of wine. The Wi-Fi was nice and quick too, which is often not the case. The location was very handy, as it’s not far from the M40, but far enough away that there wasn’t much traffic noise. Overall, I had a really enjoyable stay and would happily stay there again.
If I was being picky, I would like to have seen a salad option on the menu, but I am sure if I had asked, Sheila would have accommodated this for me.

A lovely village inn with kind and friendly owner and chef. The breakfast was very tasty. The room was clean and comfortable. Our dog was made welcome. It was a convenient base (with a car) for a day-trip to Oxford the next day. Excellent value for money.
The bedroom was hot when we arrived (in a heatwave) but it nicely cooled down at night with an open window.
