Tropicana Resort & Spa Alibaug, A Club Mahindra Associate

It is very rare to find good and quality hotels in and around Alibaug which are clean, well kept, and giving a sense of luxury. This fits in all the bills and ofcourse comes with a price tag too. The only problem i faced is answering everywhere if we are a member of Club Mahindra. dont know if they get separate treatment.

Great stay. clean place. food could have been better.

To begin with, we had booked two rooms adjacent to each other, expecting a comfortable and hassle-free weekend getaway. Unfortunately, the stay turned out to be quite disappointing due to multiple issues with the rooms and service. In one of the rooms, the AC was not working and the landline telephone was dead. In the other room, there was a very pungent and unpleasant odour, almost as if the room had not been opened or ventilated for several weeks. We contacted housekeeping three times regarding these issues, but nobody came to attend to them. I eventually had to personally go to the reception and request them to send someone. After that, the AC issue was finally resolved, but the landline remained dead throughout our entire stay. The cleanliness of the rooms was another major concern. The floors were visibly dirty, and we had to specifically request housekeeping to come and mop them. This is extremely disappointing, especially when you are paying a substantial amount for what is supposed to be a relaxing weekend getaway. The overall quality of service and basic room maintenance did not meet the standard we expected. Another serious concern was the AC stopping in the middle of the night. We were informed that the condenser had stopped working. I understand that technical issues can happen, but for a resort of this size and standard, it is disappointing that there did not appear to be any backup arrangement to ensure basic comfort for guests. The Wi-Fi was another major disappointment. I understand that complimentary Wi-Fi may sometimes come with limited speed or access. However, in this case, the signal was so weak that I could not even open Gmail or check my emails properly, forget about browsing or using the internet for any meaningful purpose. If complimentary Wi-Fi is being provided, it should at least be functional enough to support basic email access. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. We spent a significant amount expecting a comfortable and relaxing weekend, but instead, we had to repeatedly follow up with the staff for basic amenities, cleanliness, room maintenance and luggage assistance. The property itself is good from a location perspective and was easy to reach, and the roads were fine. However, a good property and location cannot compensate for the shortcomings in room maintenance, cleanliness, basic facilities and service. The checkout experience was equally disappointing. We called for a bellboy and a buggy to help us with our luggage, but it took approximately 45 minutes for someone to arrive. When the bellboy finally came, we were informed that the buggy was unavailable as it was being used elsewhere. The bellboy said he would have to make two or three trips to carry all our luggage. The issue here is not simply that the buggy was unavailable. If the buggy was occupied, the resort could have easily sent two or three staff members to help us take all the luggage together in one go and proceed towards the reception for checkout. Instead, we were left waiting for a considerable amount of time, which was particularly frustrating at the time of checkout. Talking about the rooms, they were quite spacious and comfortable in terms of size. However, considering the overall price and the standard of the property, I feel the rooms could have been equipped with more amenities to make the stay more comfortable and enhance the guest experience. On the positive side, the swimming pool was clean and well maintained, and we genuinely enjoyed our time there. The food was also very tasty and the quality was good, with a decent selection of options available. However, I would have appreciated a little more variety in the meal options, as that would have added further value to the overall dining experience. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and works on these issues, because the experience we had during our stay was far below what we expected from a resort of this standard.

We paid ₹*** for a single night, and at that price you expect things to be right. They weren't. Check-in was slow to begin with. Since it was taking a while, I asked the lady at reception to send the room keys across to the restaurant once they were ready so we could go ahead and have lunch. She agreed, but the keys never arrived — I had to walk back to reception myself to collect them. Lunch and Dinner was a big disappointment. The food was mediocre and badly overpriced for what it was. On top of that, the restaurant was uncomfortably warm. I asked four separate times for it to be cooled down and nothing happened. In the end I couldn't finish the meal, so I left the restaurant and just had the ice cream standing outside. To be fair to the staff, the lady at reception was polite throughout, and I don't want to single anyone out. This isn't about attitude. But when a hotel charges ₹*** a night, the basics — a smooth check-in, a comfortable dining room, food worth the price — should be a given. They simply weren't delivered.
