An excellent little boutique hotel, in a neighborhood with many small cafes, brasseries and bistros. Metro and RER stations are within waling distance, as is the Gare de l'Est. The breakfast is excellent, and the rooms have air conditioning (yay for that, as Paris went through a heat wave during my stay).
The location is roughly midway between Gare de l'Est and the Seine, so getting to e.g. the Louvre museum is a bit of a walk (if you prefer that to the metro). The hotel is not exactly inexpensive, but them's the breaks if you want a hotel room actually in Paris.
