Stay at a hostel on Waiheke island, beautiful, Auckland is nothing special, actually boring.

Staff was helpful for downloading, explaining how to use uber, & directions to the harbor. Private room was good size.

Go to the hostel on Waiheke island. Beautiful island, warm ocean swimming, & wine tasting. At Silver Fern hostel, there was a deathly ill customer, in the shower next to me, with the loudest sustained coughing & hacking. I ended up with a sore throat. The next day, he was at it again, I went downstairs to the staff to try to get him kicked out, but it was 8:50am, & the staff is only there from 9-9. At 9 he was gone. The guy belonged in a hospital. Imagine paying money to get sick on a vacation.

I would not stay again

Location is central

My partner was in a room where people were living, terrible smells, people up all hours of the night, very uncomfortable. When I arrived there was no card for me in the lock box despite instructions. We left early a very poor stay.

Pillow was a bit thin. I would have preferred a sheet rather than a thick blanket , as the room was very hot with 10 people sleeping in it

Disappointing stay with a poor nights sleep, but good kitchen.

Decent location being under a 10 min walk from central Auckland shopping area etc

The room was stuffy, the beds creaked, people had been in there a long time so it felt like someone’s bedroom, the beds had no curtains so had absolutely no privacy and the fans made noise at night.

Great location, bathroom clean and empty most of the time, pretty big car park ($12/half day, $15/day)

Generally people are great and everyone gets along however few, Kiwi seems to be troublemakers.

Rooms cleaned, sterilize and vacuumed everyday. Beds good. And centrally location.

Crazy racist New Zealand couple called Fiona and possibly Gregg.The last time I, stopped him physically abusing the female in the kitchen. After months They back and made a bee line to me and verbally abused me trying to force me to talk to them. I went to admin and the lady behind the counter came to ask them to leave me alone. They concocted some story about me drinking alcoholic beverages in the kitchen and I should be thrown out. Needless to say that after the admin lady left, the abuses intensified with them denouncing my Country and calling me a Kaffer, which is a derogatory slur aimed at all South Africans. So this Backpackers can not be safe for foreigners while these two people reside here. I can't sit in the kitchen or other communal places without being threatened with violence and verbally abused, by this cripple and his Stockholm syndrome partner. Clearly these two crazy bullies need special staff. Police or probably medical staff. Other problems, vomit in the passage and shit in the showers.

Almost perfect, price was cheap and amazing location plus great staff

They had a kitchen, common room had TV, fooseball, ping pong, and a second common room. Free laundry soap

No privet locker for your luggage just a small one for your wallet with$10 deposit, the mattress was old and the spring was digging in my back. No email response before booking and a long wait after my booking, ad said airport shuttle for $19 but it was $50 uber was $57 but there was a bus shuttle 5 minutes walk away for $20 24 hour access but reception was 9-9

If you hate yourself, book immediately.

Filthy, disgusting. Toilet hadn't been cleaned (i.e. it was covered in shit). Towels were old and had stains. They use black linen (red flag!) and we found lots of hair in between the sheets. Overall the condition of the property is very poor but worst of all everything is filthy. The common areas were full of people who either looked like they lived there permanently or were staff. Kitchen had no space to fit groceries.

Never a dull moment

My room mates were great. Reception staff are excellent. Very inexpensive.

Indian or Pakistani male staff are vindictive and hopeless at anything. They not only do a piss poor job but unhigenic and with the arrogance of they to good for cleaning. Now I counselled one young man he was vacuuming the floor and then the kitchen table then floor, table, floor, table and I said to him in western society that is considered bad manners and is unhigenic. He said he knows but is doing it on purpose out of mischief, cause he wants to get back at people. I've been a building manager for Ray White and I wouldn't even consider retraining a psychopathic individual. This happened approximately 9pm on 6 or 7 May. Now this happened in a fully peopled, kitchen and believe me nobody was impressed by this behavior, but felt uncomfortable and threatened by this staff member . People were leaving their tables and others had just sat down to eat. Lots of room for improvement.

Lovely friendly staff who made my stay at the place worthwhile. I could recommend anyone staying at Silverfern any day.

The worst experience of my life

Location

The place is horrible. There are a lot of people living in the hostel and is impossible to use the kitchen. Also there are always people drinking alcohol in the kitchen. Rooms has a lot of bed bunks but the space is not enough for all the people. Baths are really really dirty.

The staff were super friendly, even when they were very busy.

The common areas smelled a little like curry or some strong food and some people kept talking in front of my door at 1 am in the middle of the week, but when I asked them to tone down their voices they did, so nothing major.

Okay but not great

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the location was great. Easy walking distance to the sky tower and the waterfront. Off road parking was fantastic.

The property was obviously tired w/ old however it was obvious that upgrading was occurring. ie fresh paint It appeared that it was more of a long term boarding house than a backpackers accommodation.

Staff gives 100% to help guest. Female receptionist Pooja she takes instent action if someone misbehave with any guest. Staff is hardworking and friendly. I made lot of friends and best memories. Money value is reasonable.
