Interesting hotel, large rooms, good location and amazing value
The breakfast needs an upgrade and the rooms could be a bit more modern

Good location, impressive building, clean and well decorated room. Dimly lid bar looked cool but had too much of a chic quiet dinner vibe for me.
No view from my room. Windows onto a roof and the building itself. Cannot rate the staff since I had zero contact with anyone there.

I stayed at The Benjamin House for only one night, but it felt like so much more than a hotel stay. It felt like stepping into one of the most fascinating chapters of Latvia’s history. Before arriving, I had read a biography of Emīlija Benjamiņa, whose courage, vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and determination built Latvia’s greatest publishing empire. Knowing her remarkable story and the tragic way it ended, made walking through this magnificent mansion a deeply moving experience. The building itself dates back to 1876 and became the Benjamiņš family residence in 1928. Every corner tells a story. I found myself admiring the stunning stained-glass windows, the beautifully carved wooden ceilings, the elegant chandeliers, and the countless architectural details that have been lovingly preserved. If you appreciate history, architecture, or interior design, this hotel is an absolute treasure. The location is perfect, overlooking Vērmanes Garden in the very heart of Riga. Sitting on the terrace with my book, looking across the park, I could almost imagine the glamorous evenings of the 1930s, when Emīlija and Antons Benjamiņš welcomed writers, artists, politicians, and diplomats into their home. It truly felt as though I had travelled nearly a century back in time. I also loved the peaceful inner courtyard, where you can enjoy a coffee, a glass of wine, or simply work in the shade away from the city’s bustle. Benjamin House is way more than a beautiful hotel. It is a place where you become part of Latvia’s cultural heritage for a night. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable stay in Riga. It is a destination in itself.

I really liked the location and the charm of a historical building that’s been nicely renovated. I liked the self check-in system, and the locked gate and coded front door gave a reassuring sense of security. The vintage room decor was a nice touch, though the rooms do feel a bit tired and could use a refresh.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the hotel hosts private parties on weekends. During our stay there was a loud party, but luckily our room was on the far side of the building and we didn’t notice the noise. I do feel sorry for anyone staying closer to where the party took place, especially since the front door and gates were open during the event, meaning anyone could enter. Overall, it’s a hotel with great character and location, but weekend parties and slightly worn rooms will put some people off.
