Brunnwirt ESSEN & WOHNEN

We stayed at Brunnwirt Essen & Wohnen from 5th August for a week and had a really great time. The apartment was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The beds were extremely comfortable and, despite the heatwave whilst there, we slept very well. The views from the balconies were stunning, and my son picked the best bedroom with the balcony as his, the moment he saw the room! Part of the convenience of this location for us was its close proximity to a main road. We had a hire car and Salzburg, Hallstatt, St Gilgen, Mondsee, the Schafbergbahn and Hellbrunn are all easy days out from here. And of course, Fuschl itself and the lake are beautiful, and in easy walking distance (10 mins) from the apartment. You can also get around easily by public transport, as there are bus stops outside. Travel on local public transport is free with the passes provided when staying here. Whilst being near a main road was convenient for our day trips, one thing to be aware of if you're a light sleeper is, you can hear some road noise at night in the bedroom at the front of the property, but only if you have the windows open. For us it wasn't an issue, and we did need them open at night as it was so warm. Gerti & Johannes were excellent hosts throughout our stay, and always very quick to answer any questions we had. We were in Fuschl during a heatwave and our son was struggling a with the heat at times. When we mentioned it, they very kindly brought us a floor-standing fan. This really helped, and my son was very appreciative of it at night. Saying that, the building itself is designed to stay fairly cool, especially if you let some cool air in first thing in the morning and shut the windows during the rest of the day. With the unusually high temperatures we had though, the nights were still very warm.

We liked everything, but there are just a couple of small things that might make the apartment even better. Fly screens on the windows would be a great addition, as they would allow you to leave the windows open in the evening without inviting in quite so many flies! A pair of oven gloves would also be useful when using the cooker, which we did on several occasions. We managed perfectly well with the tea towels provided, so it wasn't really a problem, just something that might be worth adding. One last thing that might be worth noting (and perhaps something worth adding to the pinboard in the studio) is, if you're staying in Fuschl, make sure you're aware of the local opening hours of shops. Shops close on a Sunday here, and in the UK we're so used to being able to go to the supermarket every day of the week. You need to plan ahead....we didn't! Some local shops also close between 12 and 3pm during the week, and then close again by 6 or 7pm. We had an unscheduled trip out to McDonalds in Mondsee on a Sunday evening, which was still open. My son didn't mind lol! Speaking of food, we did find that places to eat in Fuschl are generally always fully booked. Many places serve food for their hotel guests and naturally cater for them first. However, we can recommend Café Flora for a great schnitzel, but you need to get there before 5pm for hot food as they close at 6pm.

Die Lage war perfekt. Direkt am Fuschlsee, aber auch für Unternehmungen in der Region sehr gut gelegen. Das Appartment war top und hatte Alles was man brauchte. Viele nette Kleinigkeiten - manchmal wurde von den Gastgebern ein Eis bei großer Hitze auf der Privatwiese verteilt - haben den Aufenthalt sehr harmonisch gemacht.
