About this house rental

Whale Song provides a dramatic setting on the ocean bluff with awesome views of surf, sunsets and Pt. Cabrillo Light House - with three bedrooms (1 king, 2 queens), two full baths, and just four miles from Mendocino. Can it get much better than this?
There’s a large, expansive deck overlooking the surging ocean with the bluff edge just 25 feet away, a small cove and the lighthouse across the Bay, and - for those indulgent moments - a hot tub.
Just sit back, relax, and marvel in the views.

Whale Song is within walking distance to the State preserve surrounding the Lighthouse and it’s only a half-mile walk to the Caspar Beach. A great getaway... but you'll have to share Whale Song with feathered friends – songbirds, gulls and geese. Because of the cliff front location there is a minimum age of 10 years and over required for any guest.

Although Whale Song is pet friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only with a maximum number of no more than 2.

The view out the large glass windows and from the porch is spectacular. This year we spotted whales migrating on at least 4 days (you need binoculars to see anything more than a "spout ion the distance") and the ones on site are pretty beat up. The location is somewhat secluded even though there's some houses quite close to you on each side. We go in the off season, so we've rarely had any neighbors during our stay. The one thing that you need to be aware of is the lighthouse on the point shines brightly and constantly and will definitely leak through the window shades in the master bedroom, so if you're light sensitive bring some eyeshades to wear

We arrived later than we’d expected, on a cold dark night, and stepped through the front door to a toasty warm house with warm lighting from lamps turned on in each room. A perfect welcoming. The views in the house are amazing, with the waves crashing and the lighthouse in the background. The house is so cozy, clean, and comfortable, making you feel right at home. We do agree with the other reviewers who have been asking the past couple years for new mattresses! Seems odd that this hasn’t been done yet - kind of a big issue with a pretty simple fix. We only use the bed in the primary bedroom, and it is sunken in, lumpy, and pretty uncomfortable. That fix, and the addition of blackout curtains to block out the lighthouse beam while sleeping, would make that bedroom just perfect.Otherwise, a lovely stay! We will be back.

We vacation in Mendo for our annual birthday trip every year and staying somewhere new is always part of the excitement. The views were wonderful and we had everything from sunshine to rain. The incoming storm provided nothing less than spectacular crashing waves. We sat mesmerized watching and listening to 15-foot waves! The highlight of our trip was lounging in the spa one morning and then having massages out on the deck in the sun. What a luxury. The house is well-appointed and I like how the bedrooms are away from the main living area. Sitting on the covered deck in ricking chairs, drinking coffee or a cocktail is life!

This property was amazing. Ample windows and a nice deck for watching the waves crash over the rocks. The grounds were well manicured and the house was well appointed with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Even our dog had a crate designated specially for her. the furnishings were very comfortable and there were plenty of towels, pillows, blankets, firewood....the list goes on! I highly recommend this property for any length of time. It's between Mendocino and Fort Bragg. Plenty to do, or do nothing but enjoy the scenery. Four days was not enough!!!

The on line pics do not come close to the beauty of this coast property. The home is so warm and welcoming that it was very hard to leave. We couldn’t have found a better place to celebrate 3 major family milestones…60th bday, 80th bday and 60th anniversary.

The view of the ocean from this property is spectacular. the house is well maintained and tastefully decorated. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The only down side (and really just a learning curve on our part) is you have to close the blinds in the master bedroom. Not for privacy but the light house on the next point flashes right in. Oh and yes we did see whales :-)

Overall extremely happy with this property. House is fully stocked for the most part and they even set out doggy supplies for you upon entry. Very cute interior with beautiful views of the ocean and lighthouse. Being close to the lighthouse though, it is constantly flashing in the houses direction which can be slightly annoying at times, but overall not a deterrent. Everything was extremely clean, and easy to find. If I were to have anything negative to say it would be that the back porch, dog area/ hot tub doesn't seem to have sufficient lighting for how dark it gets at night. Overall very pleased with my stay here, and will likely return in the future!

No better headland view. Great walk to Pt. Cabrillo lighthouse from cul de sac 200 yds up the road. Couches for 5; had to improvise for the 6 of us. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen, and helpful notes about re: the water shortage. Very good communication with rental agency. I'd go back in a second!!

The property location is perfect. It's a birders paradise. Easy walk to the Cabrillo Lighthouse. Next time we stay, we will bring a toaster vs the toaster oven that was provided. We brought an extra coffee pot and we used it. Masks are required in the stores. We avoided the stores as much as possible. The home is the reason to stay there and enjoy the beauty.

However, I like to suggest to fix the entrance door, to make it more guest friendly. Also, it would be nice to be able to open windows in the small bedroom. Window tracks and doors were dirty as well as some kitchen dishes... esp. cups.
