It’s is the only private albergue in this small town. It is pretty clean. The check-in was all through WhatsApp and Booking. It is close to the boat dock, the sea and some area beaches. There is a small kitchen/sitting area with a stove, fridge and other kitchen wares. It offers some instant coffee and tea for free. The bunk bed mattress and bedding are comfortable. Each bed has a privacy curtain although that does not work as well for the occupants on the top bunks.

In terms of facilities and values, this hostel would fall among the three that I like least on the Camino or these reasons - — it only has a small rack for drying laundry. That could barely hold one person’s clothes although it does have a washer and dryer. — For a total of 14 (?) guests, the arrangement of two rooms of toilet and shower, one each for men, vs one combo toilet/shower for women, does not make sense. During my stay, I ended up always using men’s toilet and shower because women’s was always occupied. — This hostel is on a ground floor and all bedrooms face the street. It’s not a busy street but cars zip by even late in the night. Unless the windows are completely shut, I heard car noises all night long. I had the worst sleep of all Camino stays at this hostel.

This place is in a good central location in Villanueva with easy access to amenities (there are really no sights to speak of here) and the port (if you are opting for La Barca del Peregrino as part of the so-called Spiritual Variant, though there are closer and probably better options than this).

I first walked a Camino 20 years ago and this is the kind of place I found way back then. The bunk beds are flimsy and wooden with standard mattresses whereas nowadays dormitories tend to have steel bunks with sanitary mattresses. I'm therefore not convinced that these are either the most hygienic or practical. I got very little sleep here because I felt every move from the guy in the bunk above which shook every time he rolled over. This need not be the case. One toilet and one shower is insufficient to meet the needs of so many guests. The property is tight, cramped, and poorly ventilated.
