Just what we wanted

The owner is super nice, welcomed us with home made sweets and Raki. Room neat and clean, fresh towels every other day. We made friends with the dog and cats. The place is quiet and laid back, for us it was perfect.

Some people might say, the driveway up to the place is too steep and narrow. If you dont feel comfortable with rustic south Cretan country roads, well, too bad. For us it was awesome anyways.

Wonderful view, well-equipped flat (washing machine!) at the top of a steep hill

We arrived early but still greeted with a smile, à large bottle of water in the fridge and a small bottle of raki. Wonderful view.

Mattress was too soft, air con didn’t work which was fine for us as only June but probably a problem in warmer months.

The location had a spectacular view as it is situated in a hill and the only thing you see is olive trees and the blue of the see and the sky! The host is an amazing woman, very kind and helpful in every moment!

Great location, spacious and comfortable room with any kind of facilities. Big balcony overlooking the Libyan sea. Welcoming and warm atmosphere created by Aspasia, the perfect host. She came with a tasty dessert few minutes after our arrival. Pity we could stay one night only, it's worth a longer period.

Great place for holiday for a young family

Mrs Aspasia was the best host we could have hoped for. She had home made Cretan raki waiting for us on arrival, a bottle of cool water in the fridge and everything we needed to settle in. She even gave us a small bottle of raki on departure. True spirit of Cretan hospitality, very rare to find in holiday destinations.

It was a bit of an exercise to walk up to the room from the beach but we didnt mind even having to carry a 6 month old baby with us. It felt so special to have this magnificent view from our balcony.

We loved it!

We enjoyed so much our stay in Polyrizos, it was the perfect choice for us. We were looking for a quiet, peaceful place in Crete, not overcrowded with tourists but with some comfort for a family with two young children. And we found it at Golden Sun! The apartment is big, with a living room with a fully-equipped kitchenette, two sofa beds, a table and all you may need to feel at home, plus a big bedroom with a king size bed. And a bathroom. Both the rooms have a wonderful sea view and the apartment is completely surrounded by olive trees. We could sleep hearing the sound of the waves, and sheep bleating! There is a big terrace with table and chairs so we have eaten outside every day! The lady is friendly and helpful, she lives in the first of the six apartments at Golden Sun so it's always available for any thing you may need, and she offered us a welcome treat at our arrival and other treats during our stay!! Our children could also play a lot with her granddaughter and the terrace in front of the apartments is perfect for them! She cleans the apartment everyday and changes towels and bedsheets every two day (although for us it was not so needed so we asked not to do so so often, also for environmental responsibility). That's a hotel comfort service!! To reach Golden Sun you have to climb a steep but short road that starts near the sea and ends after a turn. At first we thought our car couldn't do it but no problem at all (we just switched off the air conditioning so to have a little more power!!). The bay in Polyrizos is perfect for a family. There are five or more tavernas and cafés, all with superb food and really cheap prices, all with friendly staff and enjoyable gardens. The beach is sandy and the water shallow, with sandy seabed too. There are umbrellas and beach chairs provided by two cafés almond the road, one offers them at 6 euros for the day, while the other offers them free with a drink at their café.

Beautiful apartment overlooking the bay, relaxing and has everything you need. I had an end quad room which was very private. My dog was also welcome to stay. Aspasia is a lovely generous host.

We stayed for one week in this big apartment. It was a lovely welcome even though it was almost midnight. Easy and fast communication. Good recommendations. How could it be a bad day if your breakfast at the balcony starts with a nice view over the sea and the cliffs?

The location is fantastic and you have sea view from both the living room and the bedroom! The apartment is spacious and the bed is very comfy. You could hear the sound of the waves from your bedroom! The balcony is spacious and the view is incredible. Such a calm and relaxing place. The south coast of Crete is amazing. The host was super kind and friendly. The kitchen was perfect; there is a large refrigerator and freezer and there were enough kitchen utensils to prepare a simple meal, the knifes were sharp. The bathroom had a good shower with nice hot water and good pressure. The apartment was clean and bed linens and towels were changed every two days! There is a good air conditioning system but we didn't use it much. We really recommend this accommodation!
