The cabin itself is beautiful! The location is only about 15 miles from Homer, AK, and in the woods, but literally right off the highway. While there are trees obscuring the cabin, the highway noise was very loud, especially during the summer tourist season. Being a log cabin, you don't have the standard insulation that would have helped with the noise level. Great layout, but would have been nice to have private access to the bathroom from the master. As it is, you have to cross the hall to the bathroom. Not a huge deal as we were with family, but would have been nice if the bathroom were connected to the master. The kitchen seemed well equipped, though we did not use much. They also had a lot of the necessities like flour, sugar, and coffee, and even had popcorn and pancake mix, mayo, ketchup, etc., though I would be hesitant to use anything was already open which most of these items were. The furnishings were just okay. The living room had theater style sofa and loveseat (built-in drink holders with recliners on each end) and a broken recliner. The recliner was fine to sit it, but the reclining mechanism didn't work. My husband got it open, but the footrest was broken on one side, so we ended up not being able to use the recliner portion of that chair. Our biggest complaint is the linens. The towels and washcloths were stained - looked like someone had cleaned muddy boots with the washcloths. The bedding definitely needs to be replaced. The sheets on the downstairs bed where we slept were "pilly." You could feel the pills (bump like) on the sheets and the comforter either had stains or was not clean. My sister-in-law said the same was true for the upstairs queen bed. Personally, I prefer crisp white linens, so that I can see whether or not they are clean. The blankets did not have a good feel to them. I guess I'm a bed snob - I want luxury linens and good pillows. The pillows were flat. So, between the traffic noise and the poor quality linens, I probably would not stay there again unless I knew these items had been upgraded. The road noise, while annoying, did quite down after about 10pm. Nice looking cabin - just needs a few things!
