Lotus Eco Villa

We loved our stay at this lodge - the warmest welcome and a very comfortable room with gorgeous outside shower (but protected from the monkeys). The pool is fantastic and the owner Guna went over and beyond to do what he could to make sure we had everything we needed from providing water, ginger beer, rides to Sigiriya at 4.30 a.m., arranging our laundry and many more things he offered. We felt so well looked after. We saw some gorgeous birds around the lodge to increase our Sri Lanka bird count. Guna is a wildlife lover, providing bird baths and he feeds a giant squirrel and her young who come up very close. Local Tuk Tuk drivers and Guna were keen to take us to the door after dark each day as the road is used by elephants at night. We loved all the jungle sounds! The tiniest note was that breakfast was quite sugary with sweet pancakes, other cakes, sweet yoghurt and sweetened fruit juice. The eggs were lovely though. Altogether highly recommended!

Quiet and off the main road, very friendly staff, helped us organise many activities through local people saving us money. Very organised, great room, breakfast and pool. We even saw some toucans and squirrels at the property.

It was too far to walk to Sigiriya town in the heat, but there were cheap local tuk tuks always available.

The lovely lodge in the jungle surrounded by wildlife. My children loved all the animals wild and tame. The friendly cats and squirrel. They spotted frogs, geckos, a mongoose, monkeys and grey hornbills. The pool was fantastic to cool off and chill after a morning on safari or visiting cultural sites. There is so much to do and see in the area! All the staff are very kind and friendly, they will help you with organising tours, doing laundry and making a meal but never pushy. They were keen to show and teach the children about the visiting wildlife. We would highly recommend this as a stay for families visiting the area.

It is a little bit far from restaurants, only 2 within walking distance but it’s a cheap and easy tuk tuk ride to reach more eateries. The children also enjoyed riding in the tuk tuks.

The host was very helpful and offered to organise excursions and transport. He was flexible with breakfast times and informed us around safety measures with the wild elephants. The pool was nice also. Breakfast was nice and included fresh fruit and extra yoghurt when the host noticed we liked it. This was a nice touch.

The room was dusty and felt as if no one had been in it for months. It had quite a musty smell to it. There were lots of cracks in the windows and doors so lots of bugs got in. On our first night the air con did not work and kept turning off so we had to move rooms.
