Buff Hostel Tirana

Nice room, nice decoration, friendly staff, good location

Only 2 bathrooms for the hostel was a little tight.

The location is wonderful, especially if you have limited time in Tirana. It's within a 5-20 minute walk from all the city's main sites. It is also a few steps away from a good and cheap eatery, "Sina Pizzeri", which is open until late hours and saved me when I arrived late at night, when all other places were closed. The room was comfortable, clean, and the AC worked well. Overall, for a short stay in a private room with low expectations, I think it's a good VFM.

The room was very basic: 2 twin beds, a chair, and a table - nothing else. The room is on the ground floor directly by the shower/toilet facilities, which is comfortable on one hand, but noisy on the other hand, as when someone uses them, it sounds like they are in the room with you. Also, it is close to the courtyard, so all those who sit outside to smoke and not disturb their dormitory neighbors sit there and can be heard from the room. I was only able to sleep around 1 am, when people stopped using the facilities and courtyard. There was no noise problem in the morning. Also, there is some kind of pump that activates every few minutes (maybe when someone opens the water?) located next to the bicycle area and can be heard in the room. Luggage storage is free, but not secure. You basically leave your stuff unattended under the staircase, hoping they would still be there when you return. The toilets ran out of toilet paper at night, and I had to take a toilet roll from the toilet by the kitchen as there was no extra roll around. The hostel's phone on Google Maps directs to the owner, who was quite unhelpful when I called, so it's better to update the hostel's phone number there.
