Top Lodge, 4 Skiptory Howe

A truly wonderful stay. The lodge had everything we could have wished for — a peaceful atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, and a wonderful sense of privacy. Exactly what we needed to switch off and recharge. We couldn't have asked for more

The only downside was finding the lodge — better signage to the property would be a great help for future guests

Well equipped and tidy kitchen.

We constantly drove past the entrance to the hoiliday camp, whether from the east or west. Could do with a much clearer sign on the main road facing both ways.

I loved the location, the property was lovely, comfortable and we didn’t want to leave.

There is just enough space for two couples to squeeze in (both rooms quite cosy) and the kitchen is really well equipped. Getting to Windermere or Ambleside easy via walking/bus/car.

£400 per night was very overpriced for a cabin in a holiday park, but more fool me for booking it. Having to deal with an added layer of bureaucracy from Sykes Cottages was a shame, the owners should just put it in Air B&B. The key pick-up could have been much easier. There is a lockbox and code sent to you after booking, but also some contradictory info sent via Sykes Cottages regarding needing to check in at the Holiday Park's reception in order to get a gate code and show paper confirmations for each guest booked. This is confusing and proved totally unnecessary because there is not barrier gate is use at the holiday park where this cabin is located. Sykes Cottages (the agency who manage the property) clearly have no idea how the check-in process works, but this caused unnecessary stress and pointless printing and faff....who has a printer these days?!
