About this house rental
Looking for a staycation or vacation right on a private beach? The Cape is located on Shad Bay just 25 minutes from downtown Halifax, 15 minutes away from Peggy’s Cove and 5 minutes away from the quaint Prospect Village. It has spectacular views from it's two tiered back deck and 50 foot wharf and the backyard opens up onto your own private beach, where you can enjoy the water, sand, beach toys, 2 kayaks and paddle board. With huge windows all along the back of the house, the kitchen, dining and main living space, have breathtaking views. If the beach and outdoor fun doesn’t keep you busy our collection of games, books and online tv/movie options will keep you well entertained. The Cape is perfect for your getaway all year round.
The space:
We bought this cottage in 2008 as a gathering place for our family. We have always dreamed of owning a cottage right on the ocean and we are excited to share it with you. It is a place of gathering, connecting and sharing, where friends and family can come together to refuel, step away from the demands of everyday life, and build lasting memories together.
The open concept kitchen, living and dining room invite conversation and cozy relaxation by the wood fireplace. Enjoy dinners around the diner table, with plenty more room for dining and conversation around the large kitchen island or curl up in the family room with a good book from our library, or play a game together from our game selection.
The cottage can comfortably sleep 8 guests (7 adults and 1 child). There are three bedrooms and one common sleeping area. The primary bedroom has a queen sized bed and an en-suite bathroom that includes a full bath, washer and dryer. The second bedroom has a queen bed and is next to a full 3 piece bathroom. The third bedroom has a double bed. The common room has a double/single bunk bed. All bedrooms offer quiet comfort, cozy duvets, and pillows inviting you to settle in and get comfortable. There are extra towels and basic amenities available.
Take advantage of this opportunity to unwind and enjoy the charm of our community, Prospect Village, Peggy’s Cove and all the area has to offer. We look forward to sharing our cottage with you for a family vacation, a friend’s weekend away, or quiet couples escape.
***All linens, duvet covers and shams are freshly washed and pressed between guests. Extra care is taken to clean and disinfect commonly touches areas and surfaces.
***The Cape has a digital key pad for entry, which offers guests a contact free self check in and check out.
***For safety, The Cape has two outdoor security cameras. One at the front of the house with the driveway, walkway and front door within the coverage area of the device. One at the back door with the back door, bottom deck, partial stairs and the edge of the hot tub within the coverage area of the device.
***The Cape has WiFi and good cell service. Guest have full access to everything the home and property have to offer.
***We have a hot tub for our guests to enjoy. It will comfortably fit up to 6 adults. Please let us know if you would like to use it and it will be set up and hot for you when you arrive. There is a $60 surcharge for the use of the hot tub.
Other things to note:
We expect that our home will be treated with care and left in the condition it was found. There is no smoking permitted inside. No parties or events are allowed. Only guests booked into the reservation are allowed on the property.

The hot tub was clean and had a great view. The ocean was gorgeous and could be seen from almost all rooms in the house. There was an upper and lower deck both with great views. The place was very comfortably set up, with a great kitchen, and the hosts were great and easy to communicate with. I highly recommend staying here :)

The photos in the VRBO listing don’t really do this place justice. It has all that a traveller could possibly need, and more! Multiple games, and books for any age, in addition to a variety of settings in which to simply relax. We didn’t travel with any children, but there are so many things for kids and young adults to do. What the photos can’t capture is the relaxed atmosphere this wonderful place is saturated in! We enjoyed the living area with its fireplace, the well stocked outdoor fire pit & smores (provided by the host, thankyouthankyouthankyou) the kitchen island chit chats, and most of all, the expansive deck, watching the boats glide by in the ever changing tide. The owners provided all the important details and check in was a breeze. All communication with them was practically immediate! This was our first time in Nova Scotia and their kind help and friendly directions made settling in so painless. Wonderful. Just wonderful! One week in N.S. feels like just the tip of the iceberg. I hope to come back and this is our first choice of lodgings. If folks read this review, and are contemplating this home, please, just book it. You won’t be disappointed. You will be homesick for it when you leave : )
