Finca Tres Chimeneas

The property itself was absolutely beautiful with a beautiful view. The garden was amazing and the pool gorgeous.

It was pretty cold and damp inside, which was probably due to the time of year. The owners however supplied us with a heater and humidifier.

The house is spacious, comfortable and clean. The garden/pool area is lovely and very well maintained. The property has commanding views over the surrounding hills and we found it very relaxing to spend time there with the soundtrack of chickens, cicadas, birds etc in the morning sun. The area has relatively few tourists so depending on the towns you visit it is a very ‘authentic’ experience. Everyone at the rental company was very attentive and helpful in response to any of our needs and questions.

The house is not heated which I think is normal for the Canary Islands but that is worth considering when packing! However, there is a large open fire in the living area and a plug in portable heater. Likewise, the pool will appeal most to followers of Wim Hof. It is remote and nervous drivers might find the access and local roads to be challenging. Now the surreal bit. Several days into our stay I noticed a device on our bedroom wall with a camera pointed at the bed. This was a very unpleasant shock. I checked the children’s bedrooms and the bathrooms in case someone had tried to install cameras elsewhere. I considered bringing it to the attention of the local police. It did not occur to me that anyone could ever think it was ok or even legal to install a camera facing a bed in guest accommodation. When I did contact the management company they responded quickly. They said it only took photos when there was an alarm activation. My alarm installer says this type of unit typically produces images on demand via an app in addition to taking photos when there is an activation. Either way, how is a guest to know? He has never installed a camera motion detector unit in a bedroom and he would refuse to do so if asked. It is completely inappropriate and unacceptable. My understanding is that the company are going to address this situation. I would not want any other guest to go through the same experience so I felt a duty to mention it here even though my overall review (reflected in my rating) is a recommendation of the property.
