Nyati Safari Lodge

The Lodge was in a great location, the included food & drinks was fantastic & the Safari drives were the best we have done in South Africa.

My friend opened a bottle of water from her room fridge & discovered it was actually vinegar or a cleaning product. Apart from that, everything was great!

The property is absolutely gorgeous. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Every room overlooked the water. The restaurant had fantastic food that chef Sipho prepared every night. The outdoor Bbq was the highlight of our dinners. The massage room was the perfect addition to a super full safari itinerary and made a super exciting trip also very relaxing. The staff were responsive and even made my kids a sandwich to take away on the days we were leaving to the airport.

There is nothing to dislike about it. It was truly wonderful. The only thing that was not great was that one of our bathrooms had a shower that didn’t produce hot water consistently. So we ended up having to use one bathroom even though our villa had two.

Fantastic stay! Staff were amazing and helpful. The guides went out of their way to get the best animal sightings for you. Remember the bush gives what it wants to give, so the sightings we experienced were just incredible! Location is far from basic needs however Nyati caters to every need! Food was absolutely amazing every single meal! All inclusive is a fantastic option as you dont need to worry about anything. Escorts walk you through the lodge at night so you always feel safe. The view of the river from your room topped off the trip! We were able to see hippos playing in the water, fish eagles in their trees and crocs enjoying the sun. The lodge itself has local buck, warthog and monkeys roaming around. Fantastic experience at Nyati!

You wont get data here and the wifi is in and out. Nyati is way out in the bush so this is to be expected, but good to be aware of!

Nyati Lodge is in a stunning location by the river. The rooms are spacious, and we especially enjoyed the bush dinner on Sunday and the boma dinner on Wednesday. The game drive guides were fantastic, and the bed linen was clean and comfortable.

However, several issues made our stay disappointing: • Our 4-bedroom family suite had only one full indoor bathroom, which was very inconvenient. • The outdoor shower was unusable due to the cold weather. • Bathrooms were old and outdated. One tap leaked our entire stay — we reported it on the first day, but it was never fixed. Instead, we were told to stop using it. Very poor response, especially for a lodge where conservation should matter. • The use of plastic water bottles throughout the stay was surprising and environmentally unfriendly. • The master bedroom had two single beds pushed together, creating an uncomfortable dip in the middle. • Although check-out was listed as 11 AM, we were asked to vacate our room by 9 AM, with no explanation. • We had booked a private, air-conditioned airport transfer, but were made to leave earlier than needed and were driven back in a bumpy safari jeep with no air-conditioning. When questioned, we were told “that’s all we have now.” • Lunches and dinners were plated with no menu options, and the portion sizes were very small. There was no flexibility — you simply had to eat what was served.
