MAYA Apartments - Grünerløkka

Good location. We stayed in the standard apartment, which is structured on 3 floors and has a practical and fully-equipped kitchen. Clean and modern, it has a dishwasher, a washing machine, coffee machine, kettle, etc. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and washing gels and towels were included.

It was impossible to sleep in the loft due to the high temperature. The A/C was broken and on the bed floor (3rd) the skylight couldn't be opened; it was suffocating. We had to sleep on the 2nd floor (I wish the sofa was a sofa bed) where we could manage (hardly) to open the skylight and breath. I hope they will fix this issue for the future, restoring A/C or giving something to access and open the skylights. We also struggled a bit with the codes at the check-in (also another lady with us from another room couldn't enter, it took a while). I would also suggest to add a plate rack and a drying rack. Lastly, printing instruction to sort the waste and providing bag rolls for each type of waste (the purple and green) would be very useful. The trash is right outside the building.

Little things in the apartment weren’t working or simply just wouldn’t come on

All entry requirements were via secure links on my phone - all worked perfectly. Apartment was as described and was clean, with all items functioning correctly. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of room, though there were only two of us. Outstanding value for money for a short trip to catch up with family. Great location with lots of quality restaurants, shops and coffee houses. Public transport virtually to the door. Exactly what we needed.

An apartment 'How to..." booklet covering electrical items such as the AC would have been useful. Norwegian plug sockets are often in different places to UK, such as under kitchen units, or how the hairdryer plugged into the light were quite unusual for us.

Location and cleanliness

The stay was not comfortable: Sofa was broken and not comfortable at all, the bed situation was weird and the stairs leading up to the bed were uncomfortable and dangerous you could slip. There was nothing in the kitchen not even salt and pepper, no cleaning supplies except for dishwasher tablets and a dishwasher full of plates that clearly haven’t been emptied for a while.
