C 1 Colombo Fort

Clean and comfortable. Lovely staff. Offered a tea/coffee on arrival. Good location, out of the hustle and bustle of Colombo but very central. We went for a lovely breakfast in a cafe in a tea shop on the corner of the road.

Would have liked tea and coffee facilities in the room.

I like the location and welcoming part of the staff. Their lobby is big enough for all the travellers.

Immediate access to currency exchange at reception, sweet drinking water, soft water in bathrooms, walkable access to most locations. Good for families who are ok with hostel vibes.

Very minor improvement idea that the hotel could have a kettle in the room for access to hot water, however, the barista in the ground floor are kind enough to supply this too. Good service.

The room and hostel was good.

The only issue I want to mention is the tuk-tuk drivers waiting just outside the hostel. I suspect the hostel staff know them—and might even have an arrangement—as their behavior is extremely pushy and intrusive. During my two-night stay, every time I walked out, they tried to talk to me and followed me down the street. At the end of my stay, I took one of these tuk-tuks. The entire way, the driver pressured me to visit a gem store, completely ignoring me even though I repeatedly said I was in a rush to catch a flight. Upon arrival, he demanded more money than we had initially agreed on. The hostel management should take precautions regarding this, especially since I frequently saw the staff chatting with these drivers and calling them by name.
