House Rapunzel

Ate Panyang, the caretaker, was incredibly accommodating. We arrived quite late for check-in, but she was patiently waiting for us and helped us settle in right away. Her kindness made the whole arrival feel smooth and welcoming. The beach view was absolutely superb. I ended up sleeping for half the day just enjoying the peaceful atmosphere, while my sister worked on her thesis at the resort with the ocean right in front of her. At one point I told her that her whole setup looked like the cover of People We Meet on Vacation — doing her thesis with that beautiful seaside view. It made the whole stay feel even more fun and relaxing.

Das Resort ist sagenhaft. Es hat einen wunderschönen Garten mit vielen Kokosnusspalmen, 2 Hängematten, 1 Nipa Hut mit grosser Liege und ein Nipa Hut, wo man am Abend gemütlich Essen kann. Ich genoss den Sonnenuntergang und den einmaligen Sonnenaufgang in der Liege mit direkter Aussicht auf das Meer und erhielt gratis noch eine Kokosnuss. Es ist das einzige Resort mit einer sehr grossen Sandbank und bei High Tide kann man dort sehr gut schwimmen. Die Angestellten sind extrem Nett und helfen einem beim Kochen in der Outside Kitchen, beim Organisieren für Whale Shark Watching und Wasserfällen besichtigen. Ich habe das Budgetzimmer gewählt ohne Klimaanlage. Das Zimmer war sehr sauber und es war alles vorhanden was man braucht. Leider war der Tag viel zu kurz und ich werde auf jedenfall wieder hieherkommen, eventuell ein teureres Zimmer mit Klimaanlage wählen für mehrere Tage und noch mehr Sehenswürdigkeiten anschauen gehen und dieses für mich „zweite Zuhause“ auf jeden Fall wieder geniessen. Einen grossen Dank an das House Rapunzel und seine Mitarbeiter!

Situation géographique parfaite. Calme et magnifique. La famille présente est chaleureuse et a tout fait pour que ce séjour soit enchanteur : transport, requin baleine, île, restaurant local, etc. Mille merci.

The staff was really kind, friendly and accomodating. Without them, my experience of this facility would have been less pleasant. They offered me fresh coconut water twice during my stay, and (instant) coffee in the morning. They transported me with their tricycle to the dive shop where I had booked my dives. And they helped find a motorcycle to rent, for me to be able to move around and explore the region.

The room (No2) had no window. I was not expecting to have a room with seaview, but at least some natural light. The flow of water coming from the shower was very low, which was creating issues with the water heater (either the water was cold, or it was too hot, with risk of burning, because the flow was too low). For this, the staff proposed me to take my shower in another room (where other guests were also taking their shower), but one of my selection criteria for this hotel was that they were proposing rooms with private bathroom, as compared to cheaper options around with shared bathrooms. There are very few eating options around, this is not the responsibility of the owners, but better be aware of this: either you bring your own food and you cook in the communal kitchen, or you buy food at the calenderias (local eateries) around, but the choice is very limited. If you don't have your own mode of transportation, you can quickly feel quite stuck there. This is why I recommend renting a motorcycle.
