Dis Cottages

Oh my gosh, Dis Cottages were amazing! The location is absolutely stunning but the accommodation is quite possibly the nicest we've ever had. The bed was so comfy, the balcony was put to very good use for both the afternoon sun AND viewing the Northern Lights but the fact that there was a fridge and cooking facilities was the cherry on top. Absolutely loved it!

The accommodation gets hot in the afternoon with the sun shining through the glass. But there is air con and that view will make up for anything!

The property has a great view in a beautiful area a few kilometers outside of the tiny town of Grundafjorður. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The cottage covered the basics, a decently comfortable bed, two easy chairs, an okay bathroom and minimal kitchenette.

The cottage was smaller than we expected and just not all that nice in terms of finishing/furniture. The bathroom is lacking. It’s a “wet “bathroom with just a partial wall and shower curtain (which smelled) separating the shower area from the rest of the room and the floor gets very wet if you turn the water volume more than half. The “kitchenette” consisted of a microwave with a coffee pot, toaster, and tea kettle stacked on top. There was a mini fridge below and a hot plate. The table was a board that sticks out from the wall with two stools under it. We were there for 4 nights and could have used more kitchen and bath towels. Aside from a small cabinet in the bathroom, there is no storage space for clothing or suitcases so you cannot unpack at all or even easily leave a suitcase open.

Very comfortable bed and the staff was extremely nice. We asked to check in a little early and they were able to accommodate us.

We stayed in the large house in a suite (not a cottage) and the noise from the water pipes and other guests was enough to disturb us while sleeping.

The location was convenient for visiting the peninsula. The view was exceptional. Very clean.

The owner was terrible in her communication skills. Never saw her and she never responded via texto to our last question despite us being there for another 48 hrs. The shower was a major problem.....water going everywhere so need a partner to squeegee the water. Be careful as water too hot despite being at lowest temperature. The sofa is "peeling".
