Ribeira Stay Apartments

It was our first time visiting Porto and we were so lucky we we’ve booked our stay at Ribeira Apartments. Our kind host Carla gave us detailed instructions on how to get to the place from the airport and everything else we needed to know upon arrival, which left a great impression from the get-go and confidence that we have a great foundation to enjoy our holiday. The apartment is self was simply magical, decorated in authentic Portuguese style with a modern twist, with pretty much everything you might need for a comfortable stay. Superb location right in the centre of the old, historical area of Porto with a walkable distance to most of the top recommended things to see and experience while in Porto and numerous shops and restaurants all around. Excellent proximity as well to public transport pick ups if you wish to go somewhere slightly further in the city or for a day out on the beach. In other words this place was an absolute gem on our trip and I could not recommend it enough!

It was cozy and clean and host very communicative and flexible.

All was fine. I would just say it would have been nice to have more than one trash bag provided. The dining table a little small to allow two people to actually work there but that’s just us bc we had to get some work down while traveling.

The location is excellent, particularly if you are visiting Porto for a conference or event at Alfândega do Porto, which is within walking distance. The apartment is located on a picturesque street in the historic centre, with easy access to restaurants, cafés, and the riverfront. Check-in was straightforward and the apartment was generally well equipped for a short stay.

After my stay, I realised I had left several items of clothing in the wardrobe. The hosts confirmed that the clothes had been found and even listed the items, so there was never any doubt that they were in their possession. I immediately offered several solutions to recover my belongings, including having a friend collect them in Porto or paying for shipping to Lisbon, where I live. The hosts chose to send the clothes by post. However, over the following weeks I received multiple assurances that the items would be sent "today", "this afternoon", or "tomorrow". At one point, I was told that the package had already been posted and that a receipt would be provided, but no proof of postage was ever sent. More than a month later, despite numerous messages and repeated promises, I still have not received my belongings. The hosts have recently stated that the package was sent by regular mail and that any further delay may be due to the postal service. While this may be the case, the lack of proof of postage and the long series of delays and contradictory updates have made the experience extremely frustrating. It is disappointing because the issue could likely have been resolved very easily from the beginning.
