Everything was good for us

Contemporary, super spacious, super clean environment with pretty much everything needed for a self-catering, peaceful stay. Helpful host for whom the apartment serves as home when guest aren’t present.

The stone-staired entry is steep and each step requires significant effort. The apartment’s old-town location is a delight, but it is on a dead-end impasse with absolutely no sense of involvement in the community. The “terrace” so positively described in the listing is a tiny, grim space on a landing for the wooden stairs to a flat above There’s no connection to nature (or a lot of sunlight) here and the apartment, beautiful though it was, gave us the feeling that we were hermetically sealed inside!

Pezenas is a delightful well-preserved medieval town that has become a haven for artists and their shops. The apartment is in a wonderful location, in the midst of the historic town center, but on a quiet little spur off a small square. The host has thought of every detail that a guest might need or appreciate. The apartment is immaculately clean. The host is friendly and helpful. The restaurants are excellent, the Saturday morning market is almost unbelievable in it's abundance, the apartment makes the guests feel that they belong.

La Porte Rouge is ideally situated in an historic picturesque town. The apartment itself was comfortable, well furnished, spotlessly clean and full of charm and character. Our host was very accommodating and on hand with advice. Cafés, restaurants and artisan shops are in the immediate vicinity. Grocery shopping via supermarkets are also reasonably close. Good transport links are within walking distance with regular bus links to many outlying areas and towns which are very reasonably priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can recommend La Porte Rouge for a relaxing holiday.

Having hired a car for our stay, due to the historic nature of the location parking can be problematic. Although there's a nearby 'free' carpark it was extremely busy, so towards the end of our stay we opted to park in a pay and display carpark a little further away.
