Villa Grusone

I have waited a few days before I wrote this review and I can honestly say we had an excellent stay from the moment we arrived we were met by Carmine who settled us in, provided a lovely welcome drink and booked a restaurant for us to eat almost immediately.Next morning we met our 2nd host Vincenzo who along with Carmine provided and served a sumptuous breakfast ( feast) in the beautiful garden overlooking the bay of Salerno, this continued for the remainder of our stay with a different variety of choices daily. Including cooking an evening meal of the highest standard they satisfied our every request from providing a flower vase to booking boat trips and then to top it all on checkout the drove us down to the village to catch our bus. We are both elderly and had heavy cases to carry so I can't praise them enough for their thoughtfulness, Villa Grusone is a haven of calm and outshines even its own descriptions. Relaxing in the garden or on the terrace after the lively crowds in the beautiful Sorrento and Positano is truly wonderful. As regards its geography and accessibility you can take a bus from Naples Airport to Sorrento Station for €13 and then a 20min bus ride to Sant Aghata for €1.50 ,alternatively you can hire a car reasonably or arrange a pick up company for around €120. Thank you Villa Grusone, Vincenzo and Carmine for a fabulous stay, we came home totally refreshed and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending VG.

We went for a chill break, Villa Grusone was perfect. From check in and a great welcome from Carmine, breakfast was incredible, massive selection of tempting delights and amazing view, we have been coming to Sant Agata for 20plus years, this accommodation is one of the best we have stayed in. It’s comfy well run, great location. Hoping to stay with Carmine and Vincenzo again on one of our future visits. Thank you.

From the moment we arrived at Villa Grusone it was just magical! Even though we arrived 2 hours late Carmine greeted us with a smile, cold beers and nibbles! He showed us around, gave us our keys and introduced us to the rest of the gang (The cat, 3 ducks and the 3 '4 days old' ducklings which stole our hearts from the beginning). He then checked what time we would like breakfast at and what we would like to have. Once he knew we were all sorted he left us to settle in. The following morning we were treated to a feast (which we honestly didn't ask for!), freshly made watermelon and ginger juice, a bowl of fresh fruit, pastries, cheeses, meats, eggs, tomatoes, breads and lovely strong coffee. The view we enjoyed, overlooking the bay, while we dined was out of this world. We then met Vincenzo who offered to help us with any day trips we wanted to plan. He organised for us to be collected just across the road from the Villa's gate for our day trip to Capri rather than us having to head for Sorrento to catch the boat. He offered the same for Positano and Amalfi. We had booked a trip to Pompeii before we left Ireland and because we had to catch an early bus and train we told the boys not to worry about breakfast for us but they would only agree to that if we would allow them to make us sandwiches to bring with us instead!! We were spoiled like this on every day of our stay with them. We were made to feel so welcome and no request or question we asked of them was a hassle. They were even so polite as to not laugh at us when we suggested that we were going to try tackle the 700 steps of Fiordo di Crapolla on one of our days. We only wish that the boys owned a chain of villas around the globe so that we could be assured that every trip we took would be as unforgettable as this one!

We had such a lovely stay here and really enjoyed the relaxed, personal feel of this privately run accommodation. Our room felt more like a small apartment and the views were absolutely stunning, both from our balcony and from the terrace where we had breakfast each morning. The location was perfect for us, peaceful and quiet but still close enough to walk into town (Sant’ Agata) , with plenty of choice for bars and restaurants. The real highlight were our hosts, Vincenzo and Carmine. They were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us, from recommending places to visit and helping organise trips to making sure we had everything we needed. And the breakfasts were spectacular, beautifully cooked served on the peaceful terrace overlooking the coastline. A big thank you to Vincenzo and Carmine for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable. We really appreciated all their help and would happily stay here again.
