Relaxing charming atmosphere

The location is dreamy - absolutely stunning. The staff are fantastic and we felt really looked after.

The food served in the evening did not meet our expectation. We have visited Douro in the past and have had exceptional meals. We were aware that the venue does not have a restaurant but chose to dine there both evenings as the advertised partnership with a local restaurant sounded promising. Both evenings the food felt really dry and left us feeling disappointed. I would go back and stay there again but avoid the evening meals.

Our first night after a long drive we had ordered the evening meal service, this turned out to be very disappointing with cold meals which were supposed to be hot, expensive for what we had. This was not just us the couple sitting on the same table ordered cod in bread, they hardly ate any as was unappetising far too salty and full of bone. We all came away with just eating the salad and cake. The road up to the property from Pinhao are not good condition and when you you turn off on the single track 6km to the property they turn truly atrocious with broken up road, pot holes and is basically unmade, this may be fine if driving a 4x4 or you don’t care about your hire car, but for anyone with their own car especially if it’s low or expensive this track turns into a daily nightmare as you have to go out and there is nothing anywhere near.
