Hellatún Guest House!

This guest house is very accommodating, clean and very comfortable. The location is in the farm area of Iceland. When you come into the property you will be on a local farm/personal property. The views are stunning. Wish we would could have stayed longer and wish we didn't have an overcast sky as it would be the perfect place to see the northern lights.

Hellatun Guest House was truly a home away from home! The building looks simple but once you stepped into the house, it’s such a lovely, spacious & cozy home. We were out in the rain whole day, by the time we checked-in at evening time, we were all wet & cold so it was a delight to find that the house was already heated up, even the sofa bed was already set-up, so thoughtful of the host which we really appreciated. Kitchen was well equipped. Beddings were really comfortable. We were all so reluctant to leave the next day. Linda, the host was also very responsive. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends & would stay here if I’m in Iceland again.

Nothing to pick on

A very cozy place in a lovely area. We really enjoyed our stay. The house is clean, charming, and very welcoming. We highly recommend it!

During our stay, the owner was very helpful, friendly and responsive The views are outstanding The apartment's aesthetic is lovely

Despite plenty of positives, we are so disappointed to have to leave a review much more negative than we hoped because the owner simply refused to acknowledge the issues we had: - The general lack of cleanliness. This was the biggest disappointment. Whilst a clean had been done, it was obvious that a deep clean hadn't been done for a very long time. For example: - The fridge/freezer had food splatters, and the oven was really quite dirty - There was a lot of dust in every corner and crevace, from the bathroom to the living room to the bedrooms. Even things very visible like the bathroom light switch. - There were things left/lost from previous people down the back of more than one radiator - A lot of kitchen utensils, cutlery and plates weren't fully clean. Likely an issue with the dishwasher, however things like the kitchen cupboards were also quite dirty - The rain shower spurted everywhere so much so that it couldn't be used, guessing it needs to be properly cleaned - The bed sheets hadn't been ironed which was a shock considering the price point - The mattresses were ok on two beds, however I found mine to be very difficult to sleep on and caused me consistent lower back pain each night which I never get - The hot tub was lovely and warm but the lack of bubbles was disappointing. It might be worth setting expectations in the listing. - Whilst Netflix was advertised, it did not seem to be available. Appreciate we didn't ask for owner’s help so may be our fault, but I'm normally good with TVs so did have a feeling it was no longer accessible. - It was great that there were quite a few provisions in the kitchen, however no tea bags was a surprise though. - Instructions would have been helpful for all the appliances as none were super intuitive - Not an issue for us, but more for owner, would recommend they look into the windows, as there is significant condensation build up causing small water puddles beneath each
