An amazing place in an amazing area

A wonderful and very kind family with accommodation in a stunning location, which was absolutely perfect for us as a base for our trips. The rooms are practically furnished, air-conditioned and the kitchen is very well equipped. And - most important - those landscape views are truly worth it! Plus, their wine is excellent. We’d be very happy to come back sometime. Sending our regards to the whole family.

There’s no TV or Wi-Fi in the apartment rooms, but that can be a plus also :)

Fantastic View a Few Minutes Outside Cividale

Casali del Picchio is located on a independent family winery. If you want to tour the Friulian wine area it is located at a great location. There are many great places to eat only a few kilometers away and it is only about a 5 minute drive to the city of Cividale. We stayed in one of two apartments. The apartments were located on the other side of the vineyard from the main house up on a hill. Each apartment has a balcony that overlooks the vineyard. To the right you can see the mountains. To the left you see the flat plains where you can see for miles. The views are exceptional. The apartment we stayed at was roomy with two bathrooms, a kitchen, a large bedroom and a living room space. The kitchen came stocked with milk, juice, bread and some tasty locally maid yogurt. Since I am an analog type person, I did not have an issue without having internet and a TV. Instead I sat on the balcony and watched the farmers work the farm. At night it is a nice place to open up a bottle of wine, watch the stars and hear the birds, etc. sing all night. Not to mention, the owner gave us a free bottle of wine at arrival. The winery on site makes excellent wine. The sparkling Ribolla Gialla was so good we bought 6 bottles to take home. Finally, the family that owns the place are friendly and will answer all your questions about the area.

It's really beautiful and the hosts were wonderful

The place was 3x better than expected. We arrived when it was sunny and it was so beautiful in that area. And even when it was overcast, it was still beautiful and quiet. Our room was very comfortable and we loved how quiet and peaceful it was — we slept really well. Breakfast was amazing and we enjoyed our time talking with the hosts and guests. The location was perfect — about 3 min drive from Cividale del Friuli, 50 min drive to Aquileia, and 1 hr to Trieste. Also, the hosts were so warm and friendly, plus they gave really good recommendations for restaurants and day trips. We would definitely come back to visit again :)

Great location, clean, very nice staff.

Fantastic location, in the countryside, very friendly and helpful staff, very good food. Nice setting in the middle of vine fields, the rooms clean and enough for what we wanted. Staff very friendly making the effort to accommodate our needs and providing information of the areas highlights. I would definitely come back to this property again!

Because this is not a hotel there is no 24/7 reception, this did not create any obstacles to our stay.

The owners were awsome… friendly, informative, and nice. The location is fab, the breakfast super. Our rooms were great, and large, and clean.

Lovely experience in a beautiful location just 3 km away from Cividale del Friuli.

The breakfast was excellent with a great view of the vineyards. The owners are delightful giving us their full attention and, as I am a wine lover,I had a wonderful wine tasting given by Federico (sun of the family who takes care of the winemaking). He gave a very thoroughly explanation of each wine produced by their vinícola using both autochthonous and other 'International' grapes. The wines are very good and some excellent ones, like the one with the difficult to produce pignolo grape!

Amazing property overlooking the vineyards, close to the old Lombard town of Ciudale. The best breakfast with local food, the family is really friendly.

Superb

The views from the winery were absolutely amazing. The room was extremely large and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely and served with care. We enjoyed chatting with Mariana who runs the place with her brother Frederico. She was helpful in giving us advice for traveling to Slovenia and also printed something we needed. The dog and cat also brought us much joy. Would highly recommend!

Exceptional

This location is heaven. It was the definition of peace and serenity. It was even more beautiful in person. I had my babies 1 and 2 year old and they had a great time at the closed front yard. The hosts were kind and welcoming. Breakfast was amazing. It was the perfect Italian stay.

Very good

The scent of freshly baked "Cornetti" woke us up every morning. Breakfast was served in the garden as the weather was nice. Good choice of Muesli, organic jam, milk, cheese and eggs from a nearby farm with 15 cows, fresh fruit, ham etc. Beautiful views, tranquil surroundings, tasteful antique furniture, yet the bathroom was modern and there was good water pressure in the shower. Even though it was main harvesting season, Federico showed us and another couple around the cellar. We were also welcome to visit him in the vineyard the next day. It would have been nice if you got a bottle of wine with some San Daniele Ham and bread in the evening. But we got good recommendations for restaurants in the area and everything is quite close by - but you have to take the car (or the bikes). Bikes are a good idea anyway because you can go to Cividale without the hassle of finding a parking space. A quiet spot to end our holidays before going back into the buzz of the city. Planning to come back!

On arrival we were a bit confused with "Casali del Picchio", "Azienda Agricola Stroppoletti" and "Agriturismo Casali del Picchio - winery" - which is very much the same, at least the same family and estate... With the Agriturismo I would have expected the option of at least a snack with wine in the evening which is not available.

Superb

If you are looking for a beautiful and quiet place in the middle of vineyards hosted by a very warm family this is your place. They offer the possibility to do a wine tour with tasting. We really enjoyed this experience and the stay in the guest house, which is located on the next hill, 5 min walking to the main house. The breakfast was awesome and the whole location is just wonderful. We will definitely come again.

Don´t forget a good mosquito spray!

Excellent place that makes you feel "at home" immediatly

We had one of the two separate appartments which are both very spacious. We felt at home immediately which was also due to the tasteful interieur, the high quality furniture and kitchen equippment. On our arrival there were wine, eggs, milk, water already in the fridge, with the wine and dairy products locally produced. Before leaving, we bought a couple of bottles of their wine after a long and thorough wine tasting. I liked the Ribolla Gialla in particular but of course this is up to one's individual taste. Sympathic, honest, professional, really generous hosts. The area is ideal for lovers of locally produced high quality food.

Fantastic place, great views, wineries and food

The place is awesome, especially for the price. The room and outside spaces both had tremendous 360-degree views of the vineyards and the mountains. One day a bad storm came through that resulted in the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen in my life. The location is only a few minutes from the city of Cividale which has great restaurants, historic buildings, and a great view of the river. The room has everything you needed including a refrigerator, stove, and everything you needed to cook if you need to. They provided us with the best farm-fresh eggs, yogurt, milk, and butter if you need to make breakfast. The location is also very close to a few fantastic wineries. The winery Ronchi Di Cialla where I had some of the best wine I ever had is only a few miles away.

The week we stayed had some extreme changes in weather. So it took us a while to figure out the heating/cooling system. But in the end, we figured it out. And of course, I could have always called and asked, for directions.

Entschleunigendes, ruhiges Familienhotel

Traumhafte Lage in den Weinbergen, ruhig gelegen, familiär geführt. Kleines, aber liebevoll zubereitetes Frühstück. Gute Ausgangslage für Ausflüge in die nähere (und auch etwas weitere) Umgebung.

Es gibt so gut wie nichts zu beanstanden, es könnte nur etwas besseres/helleres Licht zum Lesen im Zimmer geben. Ich bevorzuge ausserdem 2 getrennte Schlafdecken statt einer gemeinsamen, aber das ist in Italien leider fast überall so 😏.

Sehr schön, da kommt man gerne wieder.

Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt, der unsere Erwartungen eher übertroffen hat. Alle Mitglieder der Familie Stroppolatini und des Personals waren äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und immer mit Liebe angerichtet und fand in einer fast familiären Atmosphäre statt. Unser Zimmer war sehr stilvoll möbliert, der Balkon bot einen ruhigen Platz zum Lesen und für ein Glas des hervorragenden Weins des Hauses. Wir waren total zufrieden und können die Unterkunft nur empfehlen.

Soluzione ideale per Cividale

Colazione ottima, come la posizione, in mezzo alle colline, a cinque minuti dal centro di Cividale e strategica per raggiungere Udine e le principali mete del Friuli centrale. Perfetto silenzio nella notte, posto auto comodo. Più che assistiti da personale, siamo stati accolti da ospiti con i quali scambiare quattro chiacchiere e approfondire i temi caldi della zona. In particolare, abbiamo apprezzato la passione dei nostri ospiti per il loro lavoro, per la campagna, per la produzione del vino.

Struttura veramente carina e accogliente, pari alla gentilezza del suo staff, attento e premuroso. Posizione davvero ottima non solo per la vista sui colli e vigneti friulani, ma anche perché nelle vicinanze delle località di maggior interesse. Da tornarci molto volentieri.

Etwas abseits gelegen ohne Bus o.ä. Keine Fußwege in den nächsten Ort, keine Straßenbeleuchtung, man ist quasi immer auf ein Auto angewiesen
