Casa Mar 5

The view out onto the harbour is magnificent. Boats going in and out, everything from historical llauts to high-tech catamarans, seagulls passing by and dramatic sunsets. It supplies the main room with so much light which made it our favourite spot to hang out. When you open the windows you feel like you're in the captain's cabin at the back of a 19th century galleon. The couch is super comfy and the kitchen let us live out our cooking passion with local fresh produce. It's in a beautiful and one of the oldest parts of the island. Feeling as though you live in a slice of it with a door leading right to the waters edge as it was a boat house before is magical. The surroundings are great to explore walking which we appreciated, there's a couple of low-key restaurants and a cute shop close by.

We didn't use the downstairs as we were just two people but the couch there definitely did not invite to rest! Upstairs just that the couch was white and therefore covered with a sheet and the heavy glass side tables weren't my cup of tea. In the bedroom the set of drawers can't be opened really because they're too wide for the closet door.

The location was perfect. The accommodation was of high standard. However, you could not open the downstairs bedroom door fully as the bed was in the way. There were no curtains on the window so had to go outside each night on to the street to close the shutters. There is a complicated daily waste disposal system that we were requested to adhere to and yet there were no bags left to dispose of waste. As our days did not coincide with specific collections, before leaving, we had to drive to a Parc Verd outside Portocolom to dispose of our waste, including organic waste! This should have been managed by the hosts. With regards to the host rental company, I received 7 messages re: advanced payments, registering guests with details that required onward emails re: checking in etc. I requested that we arrive an hour earlier (2-3pm) and leave an hour later (11am) but there was no flexibility given to do that. (A 10am departure is very early). Once we arrived, all contact ceased. There was not one map or recommendation of things to do in the area provided!
