Elevator clanking prevented a decent night's sleep, though the location was great. Not worth it.

The location was great and the place was very clean.

We stayed in room #210. It was next to the elevator shaft and there was clanking all night whenever someone used the elevator.

Disappointing

Location

Not worth the price. I booked a King room, the room is quite simple, no view at all, one small window looking at a concrete wall, A/C didn’t work properly so the room was freezing. At a rate of $400 (inc tax) per night value for money is very poor. Hotel did not recognise the offers I’d selected from Booking.com. In part Booking.com’s issue as not all the information is reached them, but I had emailed the hotel 4-5 days before arrival with questions and to confirm the offer from Booking and they didn’t respond, via Booking or via direct email. It was resolved in the end but it was a struggle at check-in.

Very good stay in the Centri Historico, with decent rooms and excellent staff.

The staff was lovely and the rooms were serviceable.

The rooms do show a bit of wear. I got an exceptionally good price. Had I been paying full price I may have been disappointed. The area is central but not beautiful.

A good option for a stay in the Centro Histórico, excellent service and wonderful breakfast provided.

Good location when visiting the Centro Histórico, if you venture beyond the centro traffic can be a problem. Comfortable room, great bath and shower, and very good breakfast provided. Service throughout the property was excellent.

A pleasant stay with friendly, attentive staff and a great location near the main square

We really enjoyed our stay! The staff was very nice and attentive. The rooms were spacious with real, cozy European-style blankets. Water pressure in shower was great (very important for ladies with long hair 😊). The location is perfect—just a short walk to the main square in Mexico City.

What I didn’t like as much was that it was a bit noisy—we woke up around 4 a.m. hearing our neighbors shower for about 30 minutes. Also, in some parts of the room, the wall paint wasn’t applied very well, which didn’t look great. And there were visible streaks on the floors from cleaning or mopping.

We liked the hotel and the staff a the Hotel. We loved the staff and restaurant on the ground level. The Staff and restaurants on the top floor were terrible. Disappointing as we went to the pool eveyday.

Every single time we wanted a drink at the pool we needed to get up and go tell the restaurant staff that we wanted to order something. We had to ask for dirty dishes by the pool to be taken away.

Dark hotel with unfriendly staff who overcharged us and never gave us a accuarate receipt

Wonderful location in city centre

The hotel was very dark with little natural light On arrival the deposit charged exceeded our entire stay cost and we could not have an accurate print out of what was charged to us The charges exceeded our estimate on booking.com very frustrating The staff were unfriendly Wouldn’t recommend staying here disappointed

Comfortable, stylish, cosy!

Beautiful hotel, with great design. Super comfortable beds, bathrooms with great products and showers. Also, a fantastic rooftop with pool.

The location was not idea for exploring the more fun and vibrant areas of CMDX, which meant we had to spend time taking taxis to get to fun bars, restaurants, and neighbourhoods.

Good value for money esp in heavy tourist season

Good staff and quick service; nice location in the downtown area. The in house coffee / juice / snack place was really good- great food options and good quality coupled with efficient service.

The property had a bit of desolate look about it - maybe it was the lighting.

Extremely positive experience but not sure I will stay again in this hotel.

Place is clean and the bed is very comfortable. The location is just next to Zocalo what makes it a perfect place for visiting Centro Historico. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

The entire hotel is extremely dark from the lobby to the rooms. Our room was relatively small and had a window facing a wall what is a bit unfortunate when you are paying more than $200/night for an hotel room.

This is great place to stay, I loved the architecture and the concept of the hotel in all the aspects.

The staffing in the front desk did not know all the aspects of my reservation made in the booking platform, at the end it went well but I was expecting a better service in the front desk since the beginning, this is part of the experience.

Fantastic central location. Step out the door and you are steps from the main Plaza, tons of eateries and the ever-vibrant life of Mexico City's historical center.

I can't think of anything that we were not pleased with.

A gem. Moody, intriguing design, spacious rooms, and phenomenal rooftop restaurants/bar.

Loved the outside restaurant upstairs for breakfast. The groovy places downstairs were fun as well!

For me, the neighborhood was a little too business-person feeling. However, it was safe and close to the square, which was appreciated!

Wonderful Stay!

My wife and I stayed at the Umbral for seven nights, between Christmas and New Year’s. Our stay was absolutely wonderful! The property is a beautifully restored 1920s era building of Spanish design, exquisitely renovated to original. It is suggested by the staff the building was originally a convent and later government offices. The guest rooms have been modernized, in both design and amenities. We stayed in room 203 a front facing suite (suites are not that much more than standard rooms) with high windows. At no time did we experience any noise from the street, though the hotel is in the historical center of the city and just a few blocks from the Mexico’s main New Year’s Eve celebration. There are many great places to eat close by, including in the building itself. The Umbral is walking distance to museums, historical sights and parks, as well as convenient to other of Mexico City’s neighborhoods. It is similarly convenient to the Mexico City airport, being less than a 30-minute drive. Staying the Umbral hotel is a strong recommendation and incentive to check out other of Hilton’s Curio Collection hotels.

Lovely property in a central location

The quality of the rooms is very high, exceeded our expectations. The location is very central however we prefer to stay in Roma Norte as it is a very nice area.

Breakfast was poor standard for a Hilton - we did not get everything that was on the dishes we ordered and the staff seemed confused at what the offering was.

enjoyable but not quite at the service level for a 5*

location location location ; design ; cleanliness staff friendliness;

room fridge was empty. very limited space at the bar literally about 4 stools and one table - no good for socialising or relaxing at the end of a hard day’s sightseeing. Breakfast service was slow & clunky ( no forks provided for fruit salad; no milk with the coffees despite asking for con leche (twice) - but the quality of food was great when it arrived. Just was harder work than it should be for 5*. Room guide to services was poor - Only discovered room service was available on the last day by reading the menu?! Should be a simple guide in each room simple to fix. That said the above points are made as pointers for how to improve - We still enjoyed the stay and would stay again now we know what to expect.

Very good

Location was excellent for historic center. Staff was responsive and attentive to needs. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We appreciated the layout and decor, beds were comfortable.

Staff could have been more knowledable to make recommendations. There were a couple of times we went to ask about murals and other points of interest, the staff at the reception were not knowledgeable and were not able to assist.

Great one night stay.

Great hotel. A little haven amidst the busy city. We spent one night here after missing a flight. Ate at the restaurant, amazing food and drinks. Good breakfast too!

It’s quite dark and there was no natural light in the bedroom. The windows were covered up. They play music in the hallway so you can hear it loudly from the room.

The breakfast was generous and with a good variety. The location is central. The jacuzzi is cool but could be warmer.

The rooms were cold, there was a lack of light due to few windows, no balcony, and showers only had cold water on occasion.

Beautiful hotel in heart of historic part of town

In the heart of the historic part of town. Staff was friendly and extremely helpful the minute we walked in. LOVED the restaurant and pool on the roof. Thank you Umbral and booking.com for providing top notch customer service.

Comfortable stylish room in old town district

I was quite impressed with the design of the hotel and room. The lift and stair have a cute antique style but the room is very stylish modern with nice big clean shower room. Its located in the old town district and its pretty easy to walk around. We ordered the room service on the first day and the food is pretty good.

The so-called pool is just too small to even worth diving in. Its more like a bathing pool.
