Vestay George V

Our room at Vestay George V was spacious and safe and had what we needed. It is a reasonably short walk to the Avenue des Champs-Elysees and there is a supermarket between there and the apartment. There are many restaurants near the apartment. The Arc de Triomphe is within walking distance and the Metro is easy to use. We queued up for our visit to Notre Dame but it only took about twenty minutes to get into the cathedral. We chose a Batobus Boat hop-on-hop-off tour to help us get around the major attractions, but do your homework about where the boat stops are located. We took a trip to Versailles, which was busy but delightful. The RER C was closed for maintenance so we did it the hard way with the Metro and a bus, but other than a taxi or personal driver, the best way to get to Versailles from the apartment is to walk to Pont de l'Alma and take RER C. We had a lovely stay at Vestay George V and would do it all again.

There's nothing our hosts could do about it but the floorboards in the apartment are very creaky. It's an old building, so it is not possible to move about quietly at any time, especially in the early hours! That said, the positives about the apartment made the noisy floorboards acceptable.

Wonderful accommodation in the heart of the city for a reasonable price! There is also a locker for the luggage what we found useful.

The location was good for the theatre we were attending. It had a tiny balcony.

I was mislead by the listing into thinking this was a room with a place to prepare food. The room lacked basic amenities and it was impossible to prepare a snack and, most importantly clean up. There were tiny side plates, no bowls, no spoons, no kitchen sink, no dish towels, no dish soap, no kitchen clothes to wipe down, no bin for kitchen waste. Everything had to be washed in the bathroom sink. It was not a kitchenette. There was no dressing table although the table was against a wall which could easily have had a mirror. The bath towels are small and not ar all hotel quality. The shower was awkward as you have to hold the shower head due to the ridiculous placement of the rail. Overall the room was small and a bit shabby. The price is ridiculous for what is was. The owner needs to decide if it is a hotel room or an apartment as it fails at both.
